Transient Student Admission Application
Students can mix and match courses from across the state as long as they fulfill state, institution, and program requirements. Students who are enrolled in one state college or university, but take a course at another state college or university are called transient students.
If you are enrolled in a state college or university, you can request approval to take a course at another state college or university by completing and submitting an online Transient Student Admission Application. A separate application must be completed and submitted for each institution, but you can request approval for up to four courses on one application. If you are enrolled in a private college or university or an out-of-state school, please check with your institution for information and instructions about taking a course at another college or university.
Everything You Need To Know About How To Apply To College
The college application process is pretty standard at most schools. Typically, you take the required tests, write a personal statement, then submit your application. You should keep an eye on your email, in case a school requests additional information as they evaluate your materials.
Below, we’ll cover the process of applying to college in more depth. We’ll help you check all the right boxes and maximize your chances of getting into your dream school.

When To Apply For Full
Apply by February 1 to meet the equal consideration deadline for programs starting in the upcoming academic year. Applications from qualified applicants received by February 1 and earlier receive equal consideration in application processing. This is important especially for highly competitive programs. Applications received after February 1 are processed on a first-come, first-served basis .
The Big Mistakes To Avoid
The biggest mistakes applicants make are using cliches, or borrowing from someone elses application form. Your form is all about you so why use someone elses words?
For one, its not even worth it. UCAS use a system called Copycatch on every application to find plagarism. Colleges also look for it. But even if you dont intentionally copy someone else, using a cliché might work against you.
According to the UCAS Guide to Getting into University and College, the most over-used phrases are:
- ‘From a young age/an early age/for as long as I can remember, I have always been interested in
- ‘Nursing is a very challenging and demanding career …’
- ‘Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only.’
- ‘Academically, I have always been a very determined and …’

Is Credit Transfer Right For Me
Students switch postsecondary programs for a number of reasons some to improve their career opportunities, others because their interests change or their current program isnt a good fit. Some students find they like their program, but decide they want to go to school in a different city.
Whatever the reason, according to the Canadian Federation of Students, in 2010 Ontario students spent about $40 million on duplicate courses when switching between programs or institutions. If youre interested in changing programs or institutions and you qualify for credit transfer, you could save both the time and money spent on repeating courses and may also earn course exemptions or advanced standing in your new program, which can help you earn your credential sooner.
Finding Your Credit Transfer Pathway – The ONTransfer.ca Transfer Guide
The ONTransfer.ca Transfer Guide is an easy-to-use, searchable database of all available credit transfer pathways offered by Ontarios colleges and universities. To use it, first choose to search by either course transfer or program transfer, and then fill out the required fields.
Once youve submitted your search, youll be shown a list of all pathway options open to you, with details including Pathway ID and Title, program eligibility, transfer equivalency and more. You can view the details of each pathway individually, compare the details of multiple pathways on one page, or register with ONTransfer.ca to save transfer paths to view later.
What You Need To Know Before You Apply
Before taking a course at another institution, you must get permission from both institutions. Your home institution will also make the final decision on residency that will determine whether you are eligible for in-state tuition. It is a good idea to check the deadline for admission for the institution where you wish to take the course to ensure your application is submitted on time.
Important: Students receiving financial aid must be prepared to pay tuition for these courses. Students will be reimbursed when their financial aid is disbursed which is often after payment deadlines and add/drop periods.
Before beginning the application process, be sure to have this information available:
- Student identification number and PIN/password
- Social Security Number
- Term and year when you want to take the course
- Course information, including prefix, number, title and credit hours
The application will be sent electronically to your home institution. After your home institution approves the application, it will be sent electronically to the institution where you want to take the course. During this process, you will receive updates on the status via email from the institutions. While Florida Virtual Campus doesn’t control the application process, you can check the status of your application at any time by logging into the Transient Student Admission Application. It can take up to 10 days, on average, for the institutions to process an application.
