Us Army Reserve Minuteman Scholarship
The Minuteman Scholarship gives students interested in joining the Reserve Officers Training Corps the chance to receive up to full tuition or $10,000 in room and board in return for a service commitment.As part of the Simultaneous Membership Program, Minuteman Scholarship recipients can serve in the Army Reserve while studying, and will earn a salary from their Army Reserve unit.Benefits include:

Air Force Reserve To Active Duty
The Air Force Reserve Unit makes up a small portion of their total workforce.
Switching from the Air Force Reserve unit to Active Duty requires an individual to first separate from the Air Force Reserves and then complete the process to enlist as Active Duty.
Individuals must be in good standing in order to apply for a conditional release.
The conditional release is basically a document that states that the Reserve Unit will agree to release the individual from duty only if they are accepted for active-duty service.
Your commanding Officers must agree to this change and there must be a position available for you to switch.
It is not a short or easy process to switch from Air Force Reserve to Active Duty.
If you are undermanned or high-demand areas such as select pilot or EOD specialties, your chances increase dramatically.
To complete the process you will work with a recruiter in your area who will go over any qualifications you must meet for your specific specialty.
Prepare For The Asvab Test
Be prepared to study for the ASVAB test. Studying for the ASVAB is crucial to qualify for more military branch options and careers. Dont stress out too much though, if you take the test and wished you had scored higher, you are able to take the test again. Also, if you have a college degree, you may be able to enlist at a higher rank.
If you have children, you will need a guardian who is willing to provide care while you are away. You will attend basic training and your schooling, on a full-time basis, away from your family. Even if joining the reserves, you have to complete basic training and your tech school. Each military branch basic training length varies and tech school length depends on your career choice. Some schools are as quick as eight weeks, while others are one year long.

Getting A Degree While On Active Duty
Each military base has an Education Office, who have arranged for colleges and universities to conduct college courses on-base, leading to various degree programs. And even for those who don’t work a traditional schedule, distance-learning has changed the face of getting an off-duty education.
In addition to taking courses off duty, each of the services has programs which allow some enlisted to remain on active duty and attend college full-time, receiving full pay and allowances. Some of these programs lead to a commission as an officer some do not. Most require that you commit yourself for a longer hitch in the military. Most require that you obtain some college on your own, first, and all of these programs are extremely competitive. There are many more applicants for these programs than there are available slots each year.
Enlisted members who do obtain a college degree while on active duty can apply for a commission through Officers Candidate School . Again, there are generally many more applicants each year than there are available slots.
The Army and the Coast Guard are the only services in which an enlisted member can obtain a commission without having a four-year college degree. Enlisted members of the Army can attend OCS and be commissioned with only 90 college credits. However, they must complete their degree within one year of being commissioned, or they risk being reverted to their previous enlisted rank.

How Much College Aid Can You Receive Through The Reserve Education Benefits
Tuition assistance can cover up to 100% of your college costs for tuition and approved fees, up to $4,500 per fiscal year.
Full-time payment at a college or university for the MGIB-SR education benefits, such as tuition, is $333 per month, with half-time payment at $165. For distance learning programs, you can receive 55% of approved charges for a course. For an apprenticeship or on-the-job training, you can earn $249.75 for the first six months, $183.15 for the next six months, and $116.55 for the rest of the program.
For REAP, the amount of college money you can receive is based on a percentage of your Montgomery GI Bill rate, which is based on the number of continuous days you served on active duty.

Who Is Eligible For The Reserve Education Benefits

Graduate school can be expensive, so its nice to have options to cover that expense. Joining a Reserve unit is one way to pay for graduate school, depending on the branch of the Reserve you join. Switching From Army Reserve To Active Duty
Army Reserve members hold MOS positions similar to Active Duty and follow the same pay scale, .
The biggest difference between the two is the time commitment.
Army Reserve and Army Active Duty members both attend Basic Training and Advanced Training specific to their MOS.
After this is completed, the Reserve members will return home and complete drill with their home unit once a month.
They will also complete an additional two weeks of training a year.
Active Duty members will be stationed away from home at an Army installation located around the world.
