What You Need To Do Before You Sell Textbooks
Always remember that your used books condition can determine the price. Take a used car placed on the market, for example. You will get more money if your textbook is in superb condition. Bookstores understand that students make notes in the margins, highlight passages, among many others.;
However, that does not mean those who will buy the book will be happy with it. For all you know, it might not be necessary for the students as it was for you. However, some notes you make in the textbook could help other students in the course. At times , it can increase the books value. But it is best not to count on it. Avoid it as much as possible.;
So clean the pages and make sure it does not damage the book. Try to prevent the books from further damage. When the next semester begins, use the painters tape to secure your textbooks covers and bindings.;
If you want to make notes in the book, use small adhesive papers. That will keep your textbooks in good condition until you get ready to sell them.;
Selling Your Books Means More Cash In Your Pocket
When the semester is over, its time to sell your books. Why keep them? Unless you want to keep the book because you have another class coming up that needs the same book or truly plan on going back to read it, you might as well sell it. Likewise, as mentioned before, textbook editions often change, sometimes even twice in a year.

The Fountainhead And Political Activism
During the 1940s, Rand became politically active. She and her husband worked as full-time volunteers for Republican Wendell Willkie‘s 1940 presidential campaign. This led to Rand’s first public speaking experiences; she enjoyed fielding sometimes hostile questions from New York City audiences who had seen pro-Willkie newsreels. Her work brought her into contact with other intellectuals sympathetic to free-market capitalism. She became friends with journalist Henry Hazlitt, who introduced her to the Austrian School economist Ludwig von Mises. Despite her philosophical differences with them, Rand strongly endorsed the writings of both men throughout her career, and both of them expressed admiration for her. Mises once referred to her as “the most courageous man in America”, a compliment that particularly pleased her because he said “man” instead of “woman”. Rand became friends with libertarian writer Isabel Paterson. Rand questioned her about American history and politics long into the night during their many meetings, and gave Paterson ideas for her only non-fiction book, The God of the Machine.

Bookstores usually make payments to you within minutes. Some students prefer convenience to money, and that is why they choose this option.;
If you want to make a profit selling used textbooks, selling books to college bookstores is not the best option. They usually set up a quota where they pay a fair amount. But since they want to make money out of it, it encourages them to pay a small amount.;

Literary Method And Influences
Rand described her approach to literature as “romantic realism“. She wanted her fiction to present the world “as it could be and should be”, rather than as it was. This approach led her to create highly stylized situations and characters. Her fiction typically has protagonists who are heroic individualists, depicted as fit and attractive. Her stories’ villains support duty and collectivist moral ideals. Rand often describes them as unattractive and they sometimes have names that suggest negative traits, like Wesley Mouch in Atlas Shrugged.
Rand considered plot a critical element of literature, and her stories typically have what biographer Anne Heller described as “tight, elaborate, fast-paced plotting”.Romantic triangles are a common plot element in Rand’s fiction; in most of her novels and plays, the main female character is romantically involved with at least two different men.
Arrival In The United States
In late 1925, Rand was granted a visa to visit relatives in Chicago. She departed on January;17, 1926. Arriving in New York City on February;19, 1926, Rand was so impressed with the Manhattan skyline that she cried what she later called “tears of splendor”. Intent on staying in the United States to become a screenwriter, she lived for a few months with her relatives. One of them owned a movie theater and allowed her to watch dozens of films free of charge. She then left for Hollywood, California.
In Hollywood, a chance meeting with famed director Cecil B. DeMille led to work as an extra in his film The King of Kings and a subsequent job as a junior screenwriter. While working on The King of Kings, she met an aspiring young actor, Frank O’Connor; the two married on April;15, 1929. She became a permanent American resident in July 1929 and an American citizen on March;3, 1931. She made several attempts to bring her parents and sisters to the United States, but they were unable to obtain permission to emigrate.
During these early years of her career, Rand wrote a number of screenplays, plays, and short stories that were not produced or published during her lifetime; some were published later in The Early Ayn Rand.

Selling The Back To The College Bookstore
Like buying your books, the college bookstore is the first place you want to look when selling your books. Even if you bought your books through a second party, college bookstores will often buy them back, and sometimes higher than what you could sell it for online. Like before, write down the titles of your textbooks and how much the bookstore will buy them for, and take your research online.

Before Selling Textbooks Online
Many of the online sites that buy books only need basic information in order to complete the transaction. Some sites will allow you to provide other information to go along with your posts. As with any online sales, it pays to be prepared and provide enough information that your potential buyers will have few, if any, questions.
When To Sell College Textbooks
The first question to ask is if it is the right time to sell used books. The amount you get paid for the book depends on when you put them on sale. If your classes are beginning, lots of students will need to purchase various course books. The end of the semester is certainly not the best time to sell used college books. And that is because classes are ending.;
As a rule of thumb, the value of your textbook decreases during the summer. It then skyrockets when the school is reopened, and classes are back in session. So before the semester begins, unload your college textbooks. Do not wait for a few years or until you graduate.;
The price of the textbook is not stable. It decreases with time, mainly when publishers release new editions. So it is better to sell your college textbooks as soon as you are done with the semester or graduation.;
