High School And College Admission Requirements
When colleges calculate your GPA for admissions purposes, they will often ignore the GPA on your transcript and focus solely on your grades in these core subject areas. Grades for physical education, music ensembles, and other non-core courses are not as useful for predicting your level of college readiness as these core courses. This doesn’t mean that electives aren’t important, as colleges do want to see that you have a breadth of interests and experiences, but they simply don’t provide a good window into an applicant’s ability to handle rigorous college courses.
Core course requirements vary from state to state, and many of the more selective colleges will want to see a strong high school academic record that goes well beyond the core. Advanced Placement, IB, and Honors courses are a must to be competitive at the most selective colleges. In most cases, the strongest applicants to highly selective colleges will have four years of math , four years of science, and four years of a foreign language.
If your high school doesn’t offer advanced language courses or calculus, the admissions folks will typically learn this from your counselor’s report, and this won’t be held against you. The admissions folks want to see that you have taken the most challenging courses available to you. High schools vary significantly in the types of challenging courses they can provide.

Score Well On Standardized Tests
Many colleges use standardized test scores as part of the admissions process. Some even require minimum test scores as an application requirement. You can usually submit ACT or SAT scores, though there are some schools that prefer one test over another. A good score on either test will not guarantee acceptance to your first choice college, but it will increase your chances of success and can even help to offset bad grades in certain subjects.
If you don’t score well on tests, there are more than 800 test-optional colleges that you can consider. These colleges include technical schools, music schools, art schools and other schools that dont view high ACT and SAT scores as indicators of success for the students that they admit to their institution.
Understanding Qualification Subject And Grade Requirements
Many universities and colleges set a combination of entry requirements. This could be a specific qualification, subject, or grade, or a certain grade in a certain subject relevant to the course youre applying for.
Some universities and colleges use UCAS Tariff points in their entry requirements. This is a points total achieved by converting qualifications such as A levels into points, making it easier for course providers to compare applicants.
Try not to worry if you cant meet the exact requirements, or if your qualification isnt listed in the course description, or on the UCAS Tariff. If you have something similar, youll probably still be considered just contact the course provider to check.

Foundation And Access Courses And Foundation Degrees
Foundation courses
Competition is very strong for places at Oxford. Although a foundation year course may be accepted in certain circumstances, we recommend taking different qualifications in order to make the strongest application. For a foundation year course to be accepted, you would need to make sure that the course covers the same content as any required A-levels to the appropriate standard. The University of Oxford offers Foundation Certificates in English Literature, and History, through its Department for Continuing Education. Students on these courses can apply to study a complete degree at any university, including here at Oxford University. If students do apply here to Oxford, they may apply for direct entry to year two of the relevant undergraduate course.

Sat Subject Test Requirements
Schools vary in their SAT subject test requirements. Typically, selective schools tend to require them, while most schools in the country do not.

As soon as your university receives your application they will send you an email to confirm it. Theres not a regular period of time it takes the admission committee to go through your application paperwork and respond you. Due to heavily applications load UK universities face, it takes time to process your request. Overall, this process lasts for several weeks and it depends on how many applications the university has collected during that application fall. The good news is you can track the processing of your online application through UCAS at any time you want.
Course Cancellations And Transfers
Every course and seminar in this calendar must have a minimum enrolment. If cancellation is necessary due to insufficient enrolment, registrants will be notified using the phone number provided on the registration form. Make certain we have the correct day and evening phone numbers. Once a course is cancelled, and providing space is still available, registrants may transfer to another course or seminar in the same semester otherwise, they will receive a full refund. The college reserves the right to withdraw, postpone or combine classes and/or courses, to limit registrations and to change instructors.
