BROKEN ARROW Southwestern Christian University in Bethany will begin offering accredited degree programs in Broken Arrow this fall through a cooperative agreement with Rhema Bible Training Center, where classes will be held.
“I believe Tulsa is an underserved market,” said Ed Huckeby, Southwestern’s president who for years was the administrator of Northeastern State University-Broken Arrow.
“The program will appeal to the large number of Tulsans with associate degrees who have not completed their bachelor’s degrees.”
He said opening a Tulsa-area degree program was high on his priority list when he went to Southwestern in January.
The Broken Arrow campus will offer four undergraduate degree programs, in business administration, business leadership, human and family services and biblical leadership, and a master of ministry degree with an emphasis on either life coaching or leadership.
Nontraditional, adult-style evening classes will meet for four hours once a week in five- or six-week sequences, Huckeby said.
Unlike state colleges, the program will offer credit for some coursework taken at Rhema Bible Training Center.
Rhema Dean Tad Gregurich said several universities offer credit to Rhema students, including Oral Roberts University, Oklahoma Wesleyan University and Southwestern Assemblies of God University in Waxahachie, Texas.
Rhema is a full-time ministry training program that offers courses each morning.

Kenneth E. Hagin was born in;McKinney, Texas, the son of Lillie Viola Drake Hagin and Jess Hagin. According to Hagins testimony, he was born with a;deformed heart;and what was believed to be an incurable;blood disease. He was not expected to live and at age 15 became paralyzed and bedridden. In April 1933 he converted to Christianity. During a dramatic;conversion;experience, he reported dying, due to the deformed heart, three times in 10 minutes, each time seeing the horrors of;hell;and then returning to life.;He remained paralyzed after his conversion.
On August 8, 1934, he says he was raised from his deathbed by a revelation of faith in Gods Word after reading Mark 11:23-24.
The Bible scripture in;Mark 11:23-24;defined his ministry and was his most frequently quoted verse:
