New Bill Payment Services for Foothill & De Anza College Students

Once you find a course that you’re interested in, review the course description in the Class Schedule. Each course has a course description which will include a requisite statement as well as a footnote section. Each course has a unique requisite statement.

Continue reading the below information to review the approved methods for meeting a prerequisite and to understand the actions steps you need to take to meet, or “clear,” your course’s prerequisite so that you can become eligible to register for the course.

It can take up to several weeks to complete this process, so it’s important to allow plenty of time by applying for admission and submitting the high school permission form as early as possible, so you can submit the required clearance forms and documentation well before registration opens for the course you want to take.

TIP! The footnote section also contains important registration steps that you should be aware of before you attempt to add a course.

College Course Credit for Specific Subject Course Eligibility

Know The Rules On Repeating Courses

  • Students may not enroll in the same course more than three times.
  • If you receive two W’s, two substandard grades, or a combination thereof, the enrollment system will block you from enrolling again.
  • You will need to request an “override” from the Admissions Office to register in the course again. This will be the last time you may enroll in this class at Foothill-De Anza Community College District.
  • See the Course Repetition page to learn more about your options, if you have not successfully completed a course in two attempts.

Browse The Course Schedule

We offer more than 1,800 courses in fields from Accounting to Women’s Studies. You’ll find descriptions, times and other details in the course schedule, so you can decide which course you want to take in the upcoming quarter.

Planning to attend another college in the future?

While most De Anza courses provide credit units that can be transferred to other colleges and universities, we recommend that you check with your intended transfer school to confirm whether a particular course will be accepted by the school and program you’re eventually planning to attend.

Courses at De Anza are generally numbered according to these guidelines

  • 1-199: Credit applies toward an associate degree at De Anza
  • 1-99: Credit is transferable to the California State University system
  • 1-49: Credit is transferable to the University of California system

Courses numbered in the 300s and 400s provide no academic credit.

TIPS!

  • De Anza’s General Education courses are a great way to explore course subjects and these courses often do not have prerequisites.
  • You are encouraged to identify a few preferred courses as well as alternate courses so that you have flexibility when registering.
  • You may not take courses in English as a Second Language , or courses that are classified as Basic Skills, Learning Strategies , Skills , or courses that are 200-level, non-degree applicable.

Art In The Planetarium

Gayle Tanaka’s “Blue Print” series charts her grandparents’ emigration from Japan to California, and their later experiences as farmers in Watsonville, shopkeepers in San Francisco and wartime internees in Wyoming and Arizona. The series maps family constellations of immigration, incarceration and assimilation.

“I have long been drawn to astronomical and astrological charts and maps,” says Tanaka. “As a child, I loved to find the constellations in the sky. We are all actually a part of at least one fundamental personal constellation, our family. My grandparents and parents, beneath the ancient constellations, acted out their lives, creating myths for me. But unlike the ancient constellations, my position and meaning is not yet fixed. Against the backdrop of the stars, I enact my own becoming.”

Come to a Planetarium show and see these works in person.
