The catch is that a CLEP test will appear as a P for pass on your transcript whether you get a 50 or an 80. Since CLEP exams cover such a broad range of concepts, you are not expected to pass with flying colors.

Furthermore, which CLEP math is easiest? The order of difficulty is as follows, from easiest to hardest: college mathematics, college algebra, precalculus, calculus. You will need to answer 60 questions in 90 minutes. There is no penalty for guessing on the test and there are some pretest questions included that are not scored.

How To Pass The Algebra Exam

Some people may be confused about how to prepare for the exam. In order to be successful on any exam, it is important to understand the subject well. Some of the materials that are used for the exams include practice problems, practice tests, workbooks and practice problems with real examples. All of these tools and materials will make the study process easier.

It is possible to pass the exam even if you do not know much about algebra. However, it is not wise to rely solely on your knowledge and abilities when taking the exam. Before taking the test, it is advisable to have some experience with mathematics and to prepare accordingly.

To prepare for the exam, take some practice tests. You may take an introductory algebra course or take a course with a heavy focus on calculus. A practice exam will help you understand algebra as a whole, not just the concepts that you have learned in class. Although some practice tests may appear similar to real exam questions, they should not be too difficult to understand.

After you have taken a few practice tests, start working on the exam itself. Write down the main concepts that you are going to study for the exam and start doing some practice exercises to reinforce your learning. Work with a friend or a tutor to create a schedule of activities so that you will not be tempted to skip the parts of the exam that you have already mastered.

Transfer Your Clep Credits

Assuming you passed the test, now its time to transfer your credits to the institution of your choice.

Ideally, youll know which institution you want to send your scores to before you register for the exam.

This is beneficial because each exam you register for includes one free score send. That is, when you register for a CLEP exam, you can choose the institution that you want to receive your score. Youll see this option during the registration process, which we discuss above.

If you want to send your scores after you take the exam, or you want to send your scores to more than one institution, you can do so for an additional $20 .

Youll need to sign in to your College Board account, and then click the Request a Transcript button under the My CLEP Account dropdown menu.

A few important notes on transferring credits:

  • Different institutions will have different minimum scores required to receive credit for each exam. You can generally find this information on the college/universitys website. You can also get this info directly from the person in charge of transfer admissions.
  • To order a transcript for a CLEP exam funded by DANTES, youll need to use the Parchment Transcript Ordering Service. You cannot use your College Board account.

Calculus Is The Gateway Course For Stem Majors

Many STEM majors are required to take calculus. In other words, passing calculus is a gateway that can lead to the benefits of STEM education, including higher earnings.

For the 66 percent of students who pass calculus, they can go on to take more advanced coursework in their field. On the other hand, the 34 percent who fail calculus may retake the class until they pass or change their major to one that doesn’t require calculus.

As mathematics author and part-time cartoonist Ben Orlin explains in Math With Bad Drawings, math classes are gatekeepers at every step of a student’s journey. Want to go to a state university? Pass Algebra 2 first. Want to be pre-med? Pass Calculus.

Math class has become one of the most defining areas where students must demonstrate their mettle. Even when the mathematical skills aren’t critical to future fields of study, calculus concepts like differential equations are the gatekeeper of a student’s next phase.

The Easiest Clep Exams Overall

With that out of the way, well begin with which tests I believe are the easiest and hardest for most people.

Further down Ill explain how I came to these conclusions if youre interested in reading further on it.

Some of the easiest exams are:

  • College Composition

For most people, the easiest exams in this category are:

  • College Composition
  • College Composition Modular
  • Analyzing and Interpreting Literature

I hate to list three, since there are only five exams in the composition and literature category to begin with. But those three are very similar in difficulty level, so its hard to be any more specific.

Of those, College Composition and College Composition Modular have slightly higher pass rates than A & I Lit, although not by much.

A & I Lit is the most subjective of the three. But College Composition has two essays which are graded by humans, so that test is subjective as well.

If youre into poetry, or think you might be good at A & I Lit, I recommend you stick with that one. Despite the slight difference in pass rates, its often considered the easiest.

Remember, pass rates are helpful but there are several factors involved which make them less significant than it would seem. So if you arent jazzed about taking A & I Lit, the other two are also good choices.

Heres a comparison of the differences between College Composition and College Composition Modular. But please remember that most colleges are specific on which one they accept, so its rarely your choice.

How To Pass Your Online Algebra Class

« Back | September 11, 2017 – Jill Rogier

What a marvel the internet is. It makes nearly everything so much easier. Its easier to find a restaurant. Its easier to stay in touch with friends. Its easier to watch other people play video games .

So, why is it that when they put an Algebra class online it didnt seem to get any easier? Well, never fear. Weve got some tips thatll have you rationalizing denominators faster than you can say well rationalizing denominators.

Master Your Mindset

They say that if you think about your muscles while working out, they get even stronger. Well did you know it works for your brain, too? Its true. While your brain may not have to bench press 225 pounds, your mental mindset matters when you are learning.

Theres a quote attributed to Henry Ford that goes Whether you think you can or cant, youre right. That means the best start to succeeding in your online Algebra class, is to believe you can! This doesnt make it any easier, but it does give your brain extra motivation for the hard parts. Like that guy in the gym who says you can do one more rep. Go you!

Set a Routine

Theres a place for everything, and everything should be in its place. At least thats what my mom said when I was told to clean my room. And our brains are like our rooms for learning. Its harder to find the knowledge you need when everythings a mess.

Grow with Teamwork

The Loch Ness Monster. Bigfoot. Youre on your own in an online course.

All three are myths.

CLEP College Algebra How To Pass In 2020

Taking tests can really suck, especially if youve been out of school for a few years. But luckily, there are lots of resources to help you pass the CLEP exams.

Remember that the key word here is pass. As long as its high enough to meet the universitys standards, your specific score doesnt matter. It wont affect your final GPA or be reflected on your transcript. From a practical perspective, a passing score on a CLEP exam is the same as a perfect score.

To study for each exam, you should first get the official study guide that the College Board offers. You can buy these books on the College Board website for a small fee, or you can find them for free at your local public library.

Be sure to take the included practice tests, as theyll help you assess what you need to study further.

While the official prep books are the best place to start your studies, you dont have to stop there. You should consult any relevant resources for the subject that the test covers. Here are a few of our favorites:

Work To Improve Any Issue Your Instructor Singles Out

Listen to the notes that your instructor provides for returned tests or in-class feedback. Make a note of the things they notice and resolve yourself to get better at those things. You may still have some weak points that need to be addressed, but if you can demonstrate that youre listening, then the chances that your instructor will judge you kindly in assessments are greater than if you were a begrudging participant in the class.
