Defense of Florida’s northern border with the United States was minor during the second Spanish period. The region became a haven for escaped slaves and a base for Indian attacks against U.S. territories, and the U.S. pressed Spain for reform.

Southern Technical Colleges Diagnostic Medical Sonography program is designed to prepare competent entry-level general sonographers in the cognitive , psychomotor , and affective learning domains. The structure of the program includes didactic and classroom theory with laboratory experiences and clinical externship to provide a balance of interesting and informative experiences to mold a well-prepared Diagnostic Medical Sonographer. Sonography courses in this program provide a foundation in sonography and include a variety of sonography techniques, such as ultrasound instrumentation, gynecologic sonography, and embryonic and fetal sonography. Delivered in a dynamic and professional environment, the curricula are designed to deliver intensive, hands-on training in core technical areas in combination with communication skills, interpersonal skills, and a broad-based career-based education. STI was formerly known as Florida Medical Prep, which was founded in 2003 to offer nursing assistant examination preparation in Largo, Florida. A: Only students who possess a standard high school diploma or have completed equivalent coursework as certified by the applicable state department of education shall be eligible for admission to Southern Technical College. Proof of high school graduation must be provided prior to the students first day of attendance. The following documents are valid proof of graduation:
