How Does Credit Transfer Work
So whats the trouble? Why do so many students lose so many credits in the transfer process, thereby making the ultimate goal of earning a bachelors degree that much more difficult?
Restrictive credit transfer policies bear some of the blame. Beyond that, though, the situation is just plain complicated. There are no consistent rules that dictate which courses will be credited by the receiver institutions, leading to all sorts of missed opportunities and less-than-ideal choices by students. Two significant exceptions are transfers involving articulation agreements and core curricula, both of which are described in the two-year to four-year transfer section.
Transferring credits can be complicated and confusing. But its worth the time and effort it takes to do it right.

Transfer Policies For The Core Curriculum
All students must complete the Contemporary Challenges learning goals at RutgersNew Brunswick. No transfer or AP courses can be used to fulfill these learning goals.
Once a student matriculates at SAS, writing courses must be completed at RutgersNew Brunswick. Transfer credit for 01:355:101 is not awarded except to transfer students. However, the two-part writing sequences from RutgersCamden and RutgersNewark may still substitute for 01:355:101, provided that both courses are passed before matriculating at SAS.
All students must complete the Revision-Based Writing and Communication Learning Goal by taking a class at RutgersNew Brunswick transfer and AP courses are not certified to meet this learning goal.
All students will be able to complete the Discipline-Based Writing and Communication Learning Goal with either a RutgersNew Brunswick course or a transfer course equivalent to a Rutgers course that has been certified as meeting the goal.
In all other cases, when a course transfers as equivalent to a course that has been certified as meeting a core curriculum goal, SAS will accept that course as fulfilling that core curriculum requirement.

That depends on whether you plan to enroll at a school you have previously attended. Often, when students have taken time off from college and then start taking classes again, they are considered “returning” students, particularly if they go back to the same institution.
“Transfer students” are students who have previously attended a different college or university and hope to attend a new school.
Requirements for transfer students and declaring a major vary between institutions. For example, the University of California, Santa Cruz requires junior students to declare their majors by the second quarter, while the University of Florida requires students to declare a major when they apply.
There is a great deal of similarity between the application process for transfer students and incoming first-year students. However, since transfer students have already been through the process at least once, they may be more comfortable with it.
Some schools may require a lower grade point average for students who are switching colleges than they do for those right out of high school. However, some schools accept a lower percentage of transfer student applicants than first-year applicants.
It is possible to transfer schools midyear, but to do so you need to start the process in October. However, most students transfer schools at the beginning of the year.

Information On Ap Clep Ib And Dantes Credit
In addition to transferring credit from another college or university, students may reduce their overall time spent in completing degree requirements, and gain academic credit applicable to their degree program. This is most commonly done through credit by examination. Students may apply credit earned through successful completion of approved credit-by-examination programs. A maximum of 30 semester hours of credit may be applied to the bachelors degree 15 semester hours of credits may be applied to the associates degree program.

What Is The Maximum Number Of Credits You Can Transfer
The rule of thumb for college transfer credits is 90/30. This means that, at most, online colleges will accept 90 hours in a college credit transfer, and will require that you must complete 30 credit hours in their program in order to earn your degree there. More likely, however, the college will accept around 60 college transfer credits, leaving you to complete another 60 credits at the school to which you have transferred.
You will notice that the above ratios add up to 120 either way. This is because the average bachelor’s degree program requires 120 credit hours for completion. The 90/30 rule assumes you will need to complete at least one year of study at the institution to which you transfer. It is also assumes that the credits being transferred are standard credit hours and not quarter-credit hours.
If you have attended a school that utilizes quarter-credit hours, transferring can be a bit more complicated. Quarter-credit hours can be converted to standard credit hours, but different schools have different ways of doing this. Yes, one full year of transfer credit is granted for a completed IB Diploma. Transfer credit is awarded for all standard level and higher level subjects passed with a grade of 4 or higher. We will award transfer credit based on predicted grades initially and will confirm this credit upon the receipt of your final IB diploma scores from the International Baccalaureate Organization .
Students in a partial IB program: transfer credit will be granted for higher level courses completed with a grade of 5 or higher. Transfer credit is not awarded for standard level courses.

Courses Receiving No Credit
The UW reserves the right to deny credit for courses that are not compatible with those offered in its baccalaureate degree programs. Some general categories of courses never receive transfer credit or, in some instances, receive credit on a restricted basis only . Examples of courses that receive no credit include:
- Courses considered below college level
- Repeated courses or courses with duplicate subject content

In the event that any of the above information is missing from the course outline, the student will be notified via email and provided with an opportunity to submit the missing information. AC will only accept undergraduate courses for credit transfer and prerequisites to a maximum of a 200-level credit at AC.
