How Low Is Low For An Sat Score
Before you worry about how low your SAT score is, consider this:;some schools superscore the SAT, meaning they only count your highest section scores across all the dates you took the SAT. If you’ve taken the test multiple times,;your score might be higher than you thought.

If you still feel like your SAT score is low, consider this: how “low” your SAT score actually is depends on which college you hope to attend.;You should Google search for SAT to find out the 25th/75th percentile for the school you are interested in.
The 25th percentile score means that 25% of the students attending that school have a score at or below that number . The 75th percentile means that 75% of students have a score at or below that number. In essence, the 25th/75th percentile covers the middle 50% of all students admitted to the school.
In this article, I’m assuming you’re a normal applicant;. In order for you to have the best shot of getting in, you want to get your SAT score to match your high GPA and get a score that is at or above the 75th percentile for the school you are applying to.

California State University Northridge
Northridge campus can be found on the opposite side of downtown Los Angeles from Dominguez Hills campus. This is the largest of all CSU campuses as it enrolls close to 40,000 students, and it was established back in 1958. To be admitted to Northridge, a prospective student usually needs to exhibit GPA of between 2.71 and 3.14, and ACT composite scores in a range between 16 and 22.

High School Equivalency Test
In January, 2014, the state of Iowa began using the HiSET as the assessment for persons who wish to earn their high school equivalency diploma. The HiSET is composed of five sub-tests listed below, each of which are scored from 1-20 with a score of 8 considered “passing” and a score of 15 considered “college ready”. The total HiSET score ranges from 1-100.

Freshman applicants who achieve a minimum sum score of 75 on the HiSET and a minimum score of 15 on each of the five sub-tests will automatically be offered admission. Applicants who do not meet these minimum requirements will be considered on an individual basis.

What Sat Score Would You Get If You Guessed Randomly
To underscore how unlikely it is that you would get a 400 making a good faith effort on the SAT, let’s consider the approximate score you would be likely to get if you guessed completely randomly on every question.
Multiple-choice questions on the SAT have four answer choices each, so you have a 25% chance of guessing the correct answer. On the Math free-response questions, known as grid-ins, your chance of randomly guessing the correct answer is low enough that I’m going to round down to 0% and assume that if you randomly guessed on those, you would get them wrong.
The Reading section has 52 questions. Guessing randomly, you could expect to get x 52 of them correct; that works out to 13.
The Writing section has 44 questions. Guessing randomly, you could expect to get 11 of them correct .
The Math section has 45 multiple-choice questions and 13 grid-ins. Assuming you get 0 points on the grid-ins, you could expect to get x 45 questions correct, which is about 11.
We’ll base our approximate score calculations on the Sample Scoring Guide for Practice Test 1. According to this sample scoring guide, 13 correct answers on Reading gives you a Reading test score of 19 , and 11 correct answers on Writing gives you a Writing test score of 16 .
By adding together the 340 from Math and the 350 from Evidence-Based Reading and Writing, we get 690. Even guessing completely randomly and leaving all grid-ins blank, you’d still get nearly 300 points higher than the minimum SAT score.
Take An Alternative Standardized Test
The SAT may be the most popular and well-known type of standardized test in modern education. Most colleges accept the SAT as part of a students application package, but the vast majority also accept the ACT in place of or as well as the SAT. Additionally, many colleges have no preference as to which test a student must submit, so a student with a bad SAT score could take the ACT and submit that score instead. Students who excel in math, science, reading, and English may wish to take the ACT, particularly if they arent as comfortable with the logic and reasoning sections required when taking the SAT.

Is a 940 a good SAT score? A score of 940 is pretty low. It places you in the bottom 29th percentile nationally out of the 1.7 million test takers of the SAT entrance exam.
