What Must I Know Before My Child Starts Community College
First, some community college students will earn two-year associates degrees and then stop their higher education at that point. Registered nurses, for example, can be licensed and hired for nursing jobs that pay $53,000$73,000 per year after earning two-year associates degrees and nothing more. Many other students, though, will want to transfer their community college credits to four-year colleges where they will take enough additional credits to earn 4-year bachelors degrees.
Second, students who want to go on to earn masters or doctoral degrees as soon as possible after they finish their bachelors degrees are advised to start the process of applying to those programs in January of their junior years of college. Its also completely OK to wait and attend grad school later.
Heres the most important thing you need to know about this process: it takes just a little strategy to be sure that every community college credit will successfully transfer to that four-year collegenothing wasted.

A beneficial grant awarded to students who demonstrate financial need is the Federal Pell Grant. Unlike student loans, you dont have to repay a Pell Grant. Every year, filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid will help you determine your eligibility for federal student aid based on your income, tuition and full- or part-time status.

College Degrees Guide: List Of College Degrees
Earning a college degree is still the most reliable way to improve your career opportunities and earning potential. As the following chart shows, college graduates earn more than non-degree workers and experience lower rates of unemployment.
Once you’ve made the decision to pursue a college education, it’s time to figure out exactly what type of degree to pursue. There are a variety of college degrees and each has advantages and disadvantages. There isn’t just one “right” type of college degree. The value of a college degree is a function of what the college degree offers you. Your job is to determine which college degree, or certificate, best helps you achieve your personal, educational and career objectives. For example, if you want to become a doctor, earning a bachelor of arts in history probably isn’t going to be as beneficial as an undergraduate degree in biology that will prepare you to take the MCAT. But then again, if you’re passion is history, maybe minoring in history and majoring in biology is the winning combination. If you want to pursue a career in business, then a Masters of Business Administration would be the logical choice, right? Surprisingly, many successful businessmen and entrepreneurs never earned an MBA. There are many educational paths and choices to consider. Below we’ll outline and discuss the different types of college degrees and help you begin exploring your options.

What are my professors office hours? Im going to go in and talk to her every time I have a question about what was covered in class.
Does this college have a math center where I can get help with math? What about a writing center where I can get help writing A level papers?
