Medical students using the Health Services Scholarship Program or attending the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences will serve as Second Lieutenants in the Army or Air Force or as Ensigns in the Navy.
Once they graduate and join the rest of the service, they will automatically be promoted to Captain in the Army or Air Force or Lieutenant in the Navy.
Can I Join The Navy With A Ged
The short answer is yes. You can join the Navy with a GED. Is it as easy to join the Navy with a GED as it is with a high school diploma? No, it is much more difficult to join the Navy with a GED compared to a high school diploma.
As of 2015, when you apply to join the Navy, your education qualifications will determine if you are a Tier 1 candidate or a Tier 2 candidate. Applicants with a high school diploma fall into the Tier 1 category as long as they are in the 31st percentile or above on their AFQT . Applicants with a GED automatically fall into the Tier 2 category and must score in the 50th percentile or above on the AFQT to qualify. Just because you qualify doesnt necessarily mean there will be an opening for you. However, if you have a GED and have earned 15 semester hours or more of college courses you can obtain the Tier 1 status. Tier 1 candidates get first pick on open positions, while Tier 2 candidates can apply for any open positions that are left.
The military is not allowed to accept more than 10 percent of individuals with a GED, and each branch of the military sets its own limit, which is generally less than that 10 percent. Military statistics have shown that people who dropped out of high school tend to drop out of the military in their first term at a higher percentage than those with a high school diploma.

Is Rotc In Graduate School Right For Me
ROTC offers several benefits for graduate students. First, students who use ROTC programs to earn a master’s degree receive 100% tuition coverage and a stipend while in grad school. Second, ROTC offers leadership training and a career path after graduation. Grad students who use the ROTC two-year scholarship commit to four years of military service after graduation. During this enlistment, ROTC grad students build leadership and technical skills as an officer, and after military service, they can transition into civilian jobs in the business, government, or elsewhere.
Many students believe ROTC only funds undergraduate degrees however, 32% of ROTC recipients earn graduate degrees. Students who join ROTC for graduate school complete military science prerequisites the summer before beginning their master’s program. During a month-long program, ROTC grad students complete the 100-level and 200-level military training ROTC undergrads complete. Students who join ROTC in college can extend their scholarship to cover graduate school if they have not received four years of scholarship funding.
Prospective ROTC grad students must be committed and disciplined because the program adds requirements on top of regular master’s degree coursework.

When you join the United States Air Force with your high school diploma or GED, youre automatically enrolled in the Community College of the Air Force. So youll automatically begin working toward your associates degree in applied science in one of five career areas: aircraft and missile maintenance, electronics and telecommunications, allied health, logistics and resources or public and support services. How Does Being A Member Of A Battalion Based At U Of I Work For Wsu Students
You will be a fully integrated member of the U of I Battalion. In addition to being a student at WSU, you must apply to be a non-degree seeking transfer student at U of I in order to take your Naval Science classes. As a WSU student you will have to travel to U of I for PT, class, and other Battalion events. Having a car is helpful, but not mandatory. The WSU Battalion members cooperate together to ensure that transportation is available. Upperclassmen often assist freshmen without cars.

Navy College Program & Tuition Assistance
If you’re interested in earning a college degree while you serve, the Navy offers two options:
Both programs are available to Enlisted Sailors and Officers, but they are typically geared toward Enlisted servicemembers who do not yet have a college degree. For more information, go to the Navy College Program site.
Navy Tuition Assistance Eligibility
TA is available to both Navy officer and enlisted active duty and reservists on continuous active duty. It’s also available to enlisted reservists ordered to active duty 120 days and to reserve officers ordered to active duty for 2 years or more. To qualify, you must:
- have at least three years time-in-service before applying for benefits
- be on active duty for the whole length of the course.
- attend an accredited school.
- get counseling from a Navy College Office or Virtual Education Center Counselor
- provide all grades from previously funded TA courses and reimburse all W and F grades.
- Active duty enlisted with under 16 years of service and reservists on active duty orders must have 12 months or more remaining on their current enlistment or extension as of the course start date.
- An officer must agree to remain on active duty for at least two years upon completion of courses funded by TA. Officers must also be O-3 or above to be eligible.

What exactly is ROTC?
ROTC is an acronym for Reserve Officer Training Corps. In the program, college students train to become officers in the United State Military. The program has branches in the Army, Navy, and Air Force. While graduates may also serve in the Marine Corps and Coast Guard after college, these branches do not have specific ROTC programs, although the Coast Guard does offer a similar program called the College Student Pre-Commissioning Initiative.

Active-duty servicemembers are eligible for Military Tuition Assistance, the most common form of military financial aid assistance. The program pays up to $4,500 each fiscal year for tuition and other school expenses, aid that can serve as an important motivator for students.
If someone in the military has served long enough, they may become eligible for GI Bill benefits. However, these benefits have a few limitations for those on active-duty. Spittler explains one caveat: the housing allowance isnt available to those still serving.
With the GI Bill, theyre not going to get the housing allowance because theyre already getting that in the military, Spittler says.
The GI Bill is more likely to come into play during active reserve duty when members of the military can use the GI Bill for on-site classes. The GI Bill is also popular among veteran students. In addition, all or part of any unused GI Bill education benefits can be gifted to a spouse as long as the request is completed while the servicemember is an active member of the armed forces.
These financial perks are motivators for active-duty servicemembers to enroll in college, Spittler says. Another financial boost can come from increased rank and pay. For example, Spittler explains if someone is moving closer to a bachelors degree, they do get points toward moving up in the ranks and being promoted to the next rank.

Where Does Basic Training Take Place
For all full-time regular force candidates, basic training takes place at the Canadian Forces Leadership and Recruit School in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec.
All part-time candidates joining their local Primary Reserve unit will undergo similar basic training objectives. Reserve units will conduct their Basic Training either at the local reserve unit location or at a Canadian Armed Forces training centre. Locations vary depending on units. Getting Fit With Fitt
As a rule of thumb, ease into your activities, gradually increase each element of FITT, and end each session with a cool-down. For example:
- Begin with a 5- to 10-minute warm-up. Walking, biking or a slow jog will increase blood flow to the muscles and lightly increase your heart rate. Follow up with some light stretching of the muscles you will be using in your workout.
- Improving your overall fitness is most effectively done through a combination of 20 to 60 minutes of aerobic and strength exercises. The two sample fitness sessions below are based on Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology guidelines.
- A 5- to 10-minute cool-down helps return your body to its normal, pre-exercise condition. Suddenly stopping an intense workout can make you dizzy, nauseated or even faint. Walking, biking or a slow jog will gradually bring down your heart rate and relieve muscle soreness.

The Navy has a generous reimbursement program for Sailors who attend college during their free time, and the Navy brings instructors aboard ships while underway to help deployed Sailors keep up on their studies. What If I Decide I Do Not Like The Program Can I Quit At Any Time
Students can dis-enroll from the program anytime before the beginning of their sophomore year without any obligation to the Navy or Marine Corps. If a student voluntarily dis-enrolls after their sophomore year, they are obligated to either pay back the Navy for their tuition or serve on active duty in the Navy or Marine Corps for a minimum of two years.

You will take an aptitude test to determine which military occupations are the best fit for you. Preparation is key so make sure you are well rested, healthy, on time, and careful with your answers. You will be tested on verbal skills, spatial ability and problem solving. It will take approximately 60 minutes to complete a series of three Canadian Forces aptitude tests. The following practice aptitude test will provide you with an example of the style and structure of what you will experience when you write the real test at a Recruitment Centre near you.
