• May not be eligible for scholarships

• Are likely ineligible for campus residency

Planning Instruction And Assessment

The act of teaching takes training. Bachelor’s degree programs in education all require students to complete coursework in instructional practices. This includes content in lesson planning, teaching in small groups, teaching in large groups, working with individuals, assessment and managing classroom behaviors. For example, the California University of Pennsylvania’s pre-K to grade 4 education curriculum includes a course called “Instruction and Assessment in Pre-K.” The classes that each degree program requires will match the focus of the course of study. If you’re getting an elementary education degree, you will take classes on instructing younger children, while someone taking a secondary curriculum will takes courses on teaching adolescents.

How To Take A College Course At Age 12

Set up an appointment with the dean of students. Let him know that your 12-year-old child would like to start taking a course at his college. This should pique his interest when hearing that a child wants to go to college.

Have your child dress nice for the appointment and explain to the dean of students that your child is ready to take a college course. Tell him that your 12-year-old would like to start out taking one course and gradually take more courses until eventually he has a full load.

After receiving the dean’s approval and signature, sign up for the chosen course that the 12-year-old would like to take. You can choose a campus course or one that is online. It may be wiser because of your childs age to choose a course that is offered online. Either one will give him credit towards his college degree.

Make sure your child is always doing his work on time. Keep on top of his academics so that his grades do not fall.

How To Prepare For The Exams

All AP classes offer an AP exam at the end of the year , and its these AP exam scores that will often determine whether or not you receive college credit.

As with any major exam or final, its important to adequately prepare and review so that you can perform to the best of your ability.

First, figure out what you need to learn and review. WIth any subject, there will be topics that you are super comfortable with, and topics that have you absolutely confused. Spend more time on the topics that challenge you and place less emphasis on topics that you already know really well.

Create a schedule for studying early on. Write down how many units you plan on reviewing each week, and stick to the plan religiously. When you are taking multiple AP classes at a time, creating a schedule becomes even more important so that you are adequately preparing for all of your exams.

Take practice tests. Before the AP, go through multiple full length practice tests so you become familiar with the pacing of the exam. Practice tests are also a great way to do active review of material, and allow you to get comfortable with the types of questions that you will see on each exam.

In the weeks before the AP, be sure to get enough rest and stay healthy! Its easy to want to pull all-nighters to cram for the test, but its only going to hurt you in the long run. Finalize your review and go into the exam confident in your knowledge!

How Many Classes You Should Take As A Junior

During your junior year, your focus should start to shift to what youre doing after college. At this point youre probably thinking youll only be halfway done, how can you think about the end already?

During your junior year, should be meeting with the careers office on campus and get their help.
