Extra Requirements For International Students

Whilst its true that most school transcripts and supporting documents for UK universities can be sent through UCAS, its worth being aware of additional requirements that international students may face.

  • Some UK universities wont accept an international students academic results or transcripts through UCAS (this will usually apply to non-EU/EEA students. In these cases, it will be necessary to send these directly to universities
  • Students from non-EU countries will require a valid student visa to study in the UK. They will need the offer of a place before they can start applying for a student visa.
  • Students wishing to apply for a UK student visa will need to prove that they have sufficient funds to cover the first year of tuition fees and living expenses.

Submitting Transcripts From Other Colleges:

Having your transcripts on file is one of the first steps you should take as you get ready to attend Mt. SAC. College transcripts can help counselors check prerequisites for certain classes, and provides them with information to best help you.

Official transcripts are required to get credit for classes you took at other schools towards Mt. SACs certificates and degrees. If you have taken and passed a Math and/or English class at another accredited college you may be waived from taking the assessment test.

Here is how you submit your transcripts:

  • Obtain a copy of your college transcripts.
  • Submit your transcript in person. OR
  • If applicable submit prerequisite clearance request to Counseling Center.

    Which Transcripts Are Required

    Law schools wish to see the original transcript from each institution where you have earned college credits, including institutions where you took college-level classes while in high school, institutions where you received credits that were transferred to your degree-granting school, and institutions where you took courses that were not part of your degree. This includes transcripts that might only indicate grades of withdraw, incomplete, and the like. For transcripts from closed institutions, please contact the Department of Education of the state in which you attended the institution. That agency will be able to provide you with information regarding the location of your transcript.

    When you send college transcripts, they must also be official copies. Universities often employ several people who oversee transcript requests. Contact your previous college’s academic advising office to discover what the procedures are at the school.

    Some schools allow you to send a few college transcripts for free. Other institutions charge a small fee for each record you have them send. You can typically pay these fees online when you order the documents.

    Once you submit your transcript request, one college will send the documents directly to the other. You should not have any further involvement in the process.

    Confirming Your Institutions Attended

    The address to which your transcripts must be sent will be printed on your Transcript Request Forms. You need not worry about an address when using one of the electronic services.

    Transcripts issued on behalf of your institution through any other service will not be accepted electronically. You must request that the service mail the official transcript along with LSAC’s Transcript Request Form.

    Candidates must have official transcripts sent to LSAC for any additional academic work completed, including degrees obtained, to update the file. If your Law School Report has already been sent to requesting law schools, an updated report will be transmitted, provided their terms are still active.     Definition: Anyone taking at least one high school course.

    If youre a current Ontario high school student interested in applying to college, let your high school guidance counsellor know. Most high schools will send your grades to ontariocolleges.ca for you at the appropriate times throughout the year.

    Youll still need to verify that your grades are correct in your application. Check under Docs or Supporting Documents on the Dashboard Home screen in early December, early March, mid-May and mid-July to ensure your most current records are displaying. If something is missing or incorrect, tell your guidance counsellor right away.

    Once your grades are received, they will be sent to your college choice within 1 to 2 business days.

    Exception Night School / Summer School / Online Courses

    The time it takes for your documents to reach ontariocolleges.ca will vary. Once received, we will post your information under Docs or Supporting Documents on the Dashboard within 1 business day and send it to your college choice within 2 to 3 business days.

    Its easy. You can order two ways:

  • Electronic: LSAC can process transcripts electronically only if your school uses one of the four services that LSAC uses to process transcripts electronically. Those are National Student Clearinghouse, Scrip-Safe, Parchment, and Credentials Solutions. If your school uses one of those four, you may request to have your transcripts sent through whichever service they use.
