How Long Does A Vocational Education School Program Take To Complete

Google offers certificate program to get into high-demand careers without a college degree

Without a doubt, the first point to consider when thinking about going to a trade school is your interest or passion. Once chosen, your time spent in a program will depend on your career goal, as all require varying amounts of time spent.

Generally speaking, many vocational schools require students to attend classes either on-campus or online, between three to six months, or up to two years. In fact, some two-year programs result in earning an associate degree.

Architectural Engineering Has A High Median Income And Good Job Prospects

Architectural engineering rose to No. 1 based on salaries that grads typically earn and the ease of landing a job, along with the comparatively low percentage of grads who went on to earn advanced degrees. The median income for workers who said they majored in architectural engineering was $90,000, and just 1.3 percent of degree holders were unemployed.

The undergraduate curriculum is a demanding one. For instance, architectural engineering majors at Penn State and the University of Texas take a variety of courses in building technologies and materials science. Passing differential equations is a requirement.

While civil engineers learn to build roads and bridges in addition to buildings, architectural engineering emerged as a distinct major for students who want to focus on buildings, says Rich Miller, department head of civil and architectural engineering and construction management at the University of Cincinnatis engineering school.

Architectural engineering is all about building sciences, Miller says. It merges the structural foundations part of civil engineering with mechanical and electrical engineering, specifically the parts that relate to building.

The degree nearly guarantees a job. Architectural engineering majors typically line up full-time gigs well before the end of their senior years.

Petroleum Engineering is first on our list of rankings for the best college majors. It can be one of the most fruitful majors for young students. While the market is insanely competitive, the financial rewards for majors in this field can be incredibly high.

A student who selects this major can expect a high-intensity program featuring a diverse collection of classes, including engineering, economics, and environmental studies.

Because of the high competition levels for future jobs in this major, students should consider taking a masters or even a PhD in this field for furthering their chances of success once they enter the job market in the future.

If you have a good background in math and the sciences, this may be the best college major for you. Although some core courses for this major may be completed online, petroleum engineering bachelor degrees are not offered entirely online.

May 17, 2020 by John Weems

Every year, a list of the top high-paying and in-demand jobs in the U.S. comes out, and healthcare positions, particularly doctors, dentists, and its various sub-specialties, always come out on top. However, a doctorate is costly for many Americans. With the steady rise in the number of associate degree and certification graduates earning equally or even more than their bachelor-holder counterparts, the counter-argument for earning a bachelors degree echoes louder.

That said, though, a bachelors degree still provides its holder an advantage in terms of career advancement opportunities, which is why most of the jobs listed below are managerial positions that consistently break the $100,000-median annual salary mark. Besides, the fact remains that most employers, huge, multi-national firms, still require a bachelors degree from its employees even when its not inherently necessary for the job.

*****Let us help you find the best degree program for your career aspirations!*****

For the salary rankings, the term median instead of average will be used here to describe the annual wage. This is to factor out salary outliers, that presents an effect if the averaging measure is used. By using the median measure of central tendency, the salaries described here are more neutral and objective estimates to manage reader expectations better.

Use Your First Two Years Wisely

Advance in Today’s Most In-Demand Fields with A Degree from Franklin University!

Your first two years of college are basically general education. I say basically because if you attend a community college, which I highly recommend you do, to get an associate degree before you transfer, the last semester or two you will take classes that are in your major. I attended my local community college where I majored in business. My last two semesters were when I took the majority of my business classes. You can see the concentration below in my transcripts. If you go straight into a 4-year university, you will take general education before you apply to a major. Unlike universities, at most community colleges, you can take major classes as soon as you want, providing youve met any prerequisites, you dont have to be accepted into the major to take them.

YourCollegeSensei.com

Ultimately, if you are taking a full semester load you will have about 2 years, use this time to see what types of courses you enjoy or are drawn to. Do you like biology, math, or computer information classes? Are you more drawn to health, education, and philosophy classes? You will figure out very quickly what classes you struggle with and those you excel in. Im not implying if you struggle in a subject that you cant major in it, that is far from the truth, but it will help you navigate the major. More about this later.

Architectural And Engineering Managers

  • Bachelor of Architecture
  • Bachelor of Engineering

Architecture and engineering fields usually go together, seamlessly collaborating to produce high-quality and timely projects or deliverables. Architectural and engineering managers are essential roles because as complementary as these two professions are, the project needs and requirements of each team are still different.

BLS itemizes the job descriptions of AEMs, which require technical expertise in their respective fields and practical managerial and accounting skills. Project staffing, budgeting, and coordination also fall on their shoulders. They work closely with purchasing, production, marketing, H.R., finance, or logistics departments to ensure that all project requirements and deliverables are achieved with optimum quality and within the projects budget and timeline.

Being a managerial position, aspirants are required to work for years as architects or engineers tackling different projects. Experience in leading projects or teams is also a big plus. Otherwise, bachelor degree holders who wish to advance quickly to managerial positions may take MBAs or masters degrees in Engineering Management or Technological Management.
