De Anza Extended Year Summer College For Kids And Teens

LIVE: 55th Annual Commencement | De Anza College

De Anza Extended Year Summer College for Kids and Teens is a summer enrichment program where the focus is on teaching and learning, not grades and exams. The camp operates at three locations, is four weeks in length, half days and is open to all students from any district. We offer a wide selection of fee-based, not-for-credit enrichment classes designed for students entering 1st through 10th grades. Enroll Today!

Subjects for elementary students include: Astronomy, Math, Writing, Pre-Algebra, Science, Art, Basketball and Chess.

Subjects for middle school students include: Robotics, Programming, PSAT Prep, Math, Science, Basketball, Art, Public Speaking, Spanish and Reading and Writing.

We have two middle school locations and one elementary school location.Open to the general public, but registration required.

Dates And Deadlines By Quarter

Deadlines listed below are for standard 12-week classes. Please note:

  • The deadline to request Pass/No Pass grading for classes taken in summer 2022 or any subsequent term is the last day that the class meets for the term.
  • You can find Add and Drop deadlines for nonstandard-length classes by logging in to MyPortal: Open the Apps section, click on the Student Registration tile and then click on “View Your Class Schedule.” All deadlines are enforced.

  • Before April 15:Drop and refund requests will result in a 10% service fee per dropped class.
  • April 16 May 15: Drop and refund requests will result in a 25% service fee per dropped class.
  • May 16 June 14: Drop and refund requests will be considered for a 50% refund, on an individual basis, by the dean of Community Education.
  • After June 14:No refunds will be issued.

Summer sessions provide students with the opportunity to enroll in more than 15 units including physical education and lab time associated with courses. When classes have begun, students need to consult with a counselor after theyve completed the special petition. To reach the limit, students must stay after school after midnight.

What is the De Anza College Academy Summer Classes Program and where does it take place? The “De Anza College Academy” is a fee-based enrichment program for kids and teens. Our exceptional instructors come from a variety of educational institutions across the Bay Area, including universities, colleges, public and private high schools and K-8 districts. Our credentialed instructors possess expertise and passion for their specific instructional area and substantial experience teaching and working with young students. Our program offers enjoyable hands-on and project based learning. Art classes offered in partnership with the De Anza College’s Euphrat Museum.This program is for students who are entering fourth to twelfth grade. Students are not assigned letter grades or school credit. Supplemental homework is assigned in some of the middle school classes. Please check course descriptions for specific details pertaining to each class.WHAT ARE THE DATES TO REGISTER ONLINE:

  • Before April 18: $35 service fee per dropped class.
  • After May 23: No refunds will be issued*

These classes begin after the official start of the quarter, and may still have open seats. Check the list below to find short classes for credit in a variety of subjects. Then register for the course in MyPortal before the first day of the class.

  • You don’t need an add code to add late start classes up to the evening before the class begins.
  • If a class is full, you may email the instructor to request an add code if space becomes available.
  • Be sure to click the course title and review the class listing footnotes to see if your class is online and whether it has any scheduled meetings.

When youre ready to enroll, follow the steps listed online to register. All student class registrations require a parent or guardian to complete the online waiver and information release form before completing the registration. How Do I Take Classes At De Anza

To make changes to MyPortal or MyProxy Register a Student Log on to my Portal, select the Apps tab, then tap Student Registration. After clicking the link Add or Drop Classes, youll be taken back to your current account. See if there is another class in which you can take your class should it be closed.

Course Registration Dates Based On Priority Enrollment

NEW STUDENTS: All steps must have been completed to receive priority registration for summer session.

CONTINUING STUDENTS: You must have enrolled during spring quarter to qualify for the best date for summer session.

In accordance with new state and local regulations, students will be assigned registration dates in the following order.

Priority registration is set up for First-Time college students with a goal of obtaining their first degree or certificate. You will not be able to receive priority higher than Group 6 if you’ve previously attended college or a university and/or received a degree.

    Advice For Choosing Classes For Your Child

    When selecting classes for your child, Students should enroll at the grade level they will enter in Fall 2021. For example, if your student is completing fifth grade in June 2021, she or he should enroll in sixth-grade level classes.

    WHEN WILL CLASSROOMS BE ASSIGNED?Online Classroom Information, All summer classes meeting in June and July will take place online via CANVAS.
