Reporting Future Planned Coursework

How I Got Into UC Berkeley: Cal TRANSFER admissions tips, coming from community college

Work with a counselor to review TAG criteria, your TAG eligibility, and to help you plan your future/planned coursework:

  • Use assist.org to plan your future/planned major course requirements. Use this website by first choosing Foothill College, then choosing your UC, and then your major. Here you will find the courses the UC requires you to take at a California community college for your major.
  • Most science/math/ engineering related majors might have courses with prerequisites.
  • Your future/ planned courses is a contractual agreement you make with the university. The UC will expect students to complete their listed future/planned courses by the end of spring 2022 . See examples below.
  • If you register for courses in future terms that are different from what you listed in your TAG it may/ may not negatively affect your TAG.

For example: If you dont take a major requirement that you listed in your TAG, this could negatively affect your TAG.

For example: If you take a different general education course than what you listed in your TAG, it most likely will not negatively affect your TAG.

  • Please meet with a counselor if you choose to take a different course other than the courses you listed in your TAG.

Test Scores & Letters Of Recommendation:

Before I talk about what I needed for Berkeley admissions, Ill first talk about what I didnt need. As a transfer student, I didnt need to submit any diagnostic tests, such as the SAT and ACT. I also did not need any letters of recommendation, because the UC system did not require them.

Now lets dive into what factors really mattered!

I Want To Transfer From Ucsb To Uci As A Biomedical Engineering Major

< p> I’m a first year at UCSB and I want to transfer to UCI as a biomedical engineering. < /p>

< p> I have 24units from AP classes I took in high school and after this winter quarter, I should be a sophomore standing. My fall quarter’s GPA was 3.23 and I did not do any extra curricular and although I’m qualified for work study, I was not able to find a job for myself so I also didn’t work. So basically as of now, I have a 3.23 GPA with no extra activities that I do. < /p>

< p> Personally, I feel what the admissions office is telling you is correct. This is also what I’ve heard somewhere. If you have a SIGNIFICANT amount of work completed at a University, then I don’t think you will be considered along with the community college students . However, I don’t know what they would count as “significant”< /p>

< p> I don’t think UCI is all that difficult to transfer. With your gpa I would definitely be surprised if they did not give you admission. Now if you were talking UCB or UCLA that would be an entirely different matter. UCSB is pretty highly rated for engineering . I am assuming you want to transfer at the UPPER DIVISION level.< /p>

< p> Also, I think it would be very difficult to transfer at the lower division level< /p>

< p> I actually am more interested in biology. I love learning how the body works and what causes what etc. So I might just want to major in general biology at UCI. But if I dont get in to UCI, I might just major in biophsycology or physiology. < /p>

For Former And Current Uc Students

These students:

  • Previously attended a UC campus during a regular term and want to transfer back to the same campus or a different campus, or
  • Are current UC students looking to transfer to a different UC campus

To be considered for admission, students must be in good academic standing before transferring . If they are not in good academic standing, they are advised to contact a college/school advisor at the UC campus they attended or are attending to learn how to improve their academic standing.

All courses completed, and grades and units earned at a UC campus during fall, winter, spring and summer at a UC campus are transferable to another UC campus .

Information on how to advise students who were previously enrolled at a UC campus, but have not yet completed a bachelor’s degree, can be found in the Quick Reference under “Other Types of Transfer Students.”

Does The Uc Require A Language Other Than English For Transfer Admission As A Junior

The UC does not require completion of a language other than English for admission as an upper-division transfer student from the community college. However, specific colleges or programs at UC campuses may require a language other than English as part of their breadth or major requirements. Students who plan to complete IGETC to fulfill lower division GE requirements must complete a language other than English. See the UC General Education section on the UC Transfer Basics page.

Who Can Apply To A Uc Transfer Admission Guarantee

  • Only students transferring directly from a California community college are considered for a TAG, including international students .

  • A CCC transfer student is one who has completed at least 30 semester UC-transferable units at one or more California community colleges, and the last college the student attended in a regular session before admission to a UC campus is a California community college. All UC campuses that offer TAGs require students to meet this definition.

  • *** Students who have already earned a bachelors degree, graduate degree, and/or professional degree cannot receive a TAG. Students who have previously enrolled at a UC campus during a regular term cannot submit a TAG application to return to that campus. Students concurrently enrolled in high school are not eligible for TAG. ***
