I was a little nervous when Dad and I went to talk to the Admissions Advisor, Mr. Valentine. On the way to the college, many thoughts ran through my mind. When I was about nine or ten, I had decided I wanted to start college early. At the time, I thought if I worked really hard maybe I could be ready by the time I was fourteen years old. Little did I expect that I would be ready for college when I was twelve – going on thirteen, but nonetheless there I was starting the application process.
I remember praying that morning that things would work out for the best, whether I got into college or not. After we got there, it was pretty simple. All we had to do was find Mr. Valentine, and talk to him about homeschooling, why I wanted to go to college early, how I worked for it, prayed about it, and about how we all felt that I was ready. He said that he needed some sort of papers stating that I had graduated from high-school. He also said I would have to take an Asset Test . Depending on my scores, we would proceed after the test.
The first problem was easy. When we returned home, Mom went to the computer, created a diploma on a word processor, and printed it up. Then she printed up a copy of my high-school transcripts . When Dad left for work that afternoon, he dropped off the documents at the college. They accepted the diploma and transcripts with no further questions.

Differences Between Online And Campus Classrooms
There have been cases where very young students have been denied college entry because of their age. A 13-year-old girl was denied college enrollment despite the fact that she had passed the entrance exam and completed a high school diploma via legal home schooling. The college administrators cited fears for the girls safety on a campus designed for adults. There were also concerns about her ability to interact well face-to-face with college-aged students.
Concerns like these are well founded, but do they apply to an online learning environment? If the students does not have to go to campus or interact directly with peers, does it matter how old they are? Online college courses do still often specify an age requirement for their admissions. The average age is 15 years, but, again, it can vary by institution.

Online college courses offer a convenient way to earn an education from any location. These online classes are diverse, flexible and ideal for those who already have busy schedules. They have long been favorite choices for students with full-time jobs and those with families. Lately, however, younger people have found that taking classes online while still in high school may give them an early boost to a college career.
Young Age Wont Slow Down Your Progress
Despite the social or communication hindrances, it is a process every minor has to go through in college. However, these challenges dont academically contribute to slowing down their college progress.
If a minor qualifies to enter a good college, it simply implies theyre deeply interested or talented in certain fields of study. When a minor shows great interest in an academic program from a particular university interesting, chances are the faculty will think highly of these candidates to offer admission. If they set their focus on the right things, some can even graduate earlier than expected from the typical timeline.
Here are some great examples of minors who started out college at really young ages:
1. Kathleen HoltzAge during graduation: 15
Kathleen Holtz was a young prodigy who started college at young age 10 and entered law school at 15. Holtz later went on with her higher learning career and graduated from UCLAs School of Law in 2007.
2. Moshe Kai CavalinAge during graduation: 15
Cavalin was already taking math classes at East Los Angeles College at the age of 10 way ahead of his peers. By the age of 15, hed already earned a Bachelors Degree in Mathematics from UCLA.
3. Sho YanoAge during graduation: 12
Yano obtained his first Bachelors Degree from Loyola University in three years when he was a freshly admitted 9-year-old. In 2012, at the age of 21, Yano even became the youngest student in the University of Chicagos history to receive a Masters Degree.

In Circumstances Where Face Coverings Are Recommended
Your nursery, school or college might advise you that face coverings should temporarily be worn in communal areas or classrooms .
In these circumstances, transparent face coverings, which may assist communication with someone who relies on lip reading, clear sound or facial expression to communicate, can also be worn. Transparent face coverings may be effective in reducing the spread of COVID-19. However, the evidence to support this is currently very limited. Face coverings should fit securely around the face to cover the nose and mouth and be made with a breathable material capable of filtering airborne particles.
The main benefit from a transparent face covering is that they can aid communication, for example enabling lip-reading or allowing for the full visibility of facial expressions, but this should be considered alongside the comfort and breathability of a face covering that contains plastic, which may mean that the face covering is less breathable than layers of cloth.
The use of face coverings may have a particular impact on those who rely on visual signals for communication. Those who communicate with or provide support to those who do, are exempt from any recommendation to wear face coverings in education and childcare settings.
No pupil should be denied education on the grounds that they are, or are not, wearing a face covering.

Holidays And Travel Abroad
You should plan your holidays within school and college holidays as usual. Avoid seeking permission to take your children out of school or college during term time.
You should refer to the guidance on travelling abroad from England before booking and travelling.
All pupils travelling to England must adhere to travel legislation, details of which are set out in the guidance on travelling to England from another country.
Keep in mind that you and your children may need to quarantine when you return from a trip overseas. Any quarantine should also fall within the school or college holidays.
Where your child is abroad and facing challenges to return, local authorities and schools should continue to work with you to understand your circumstances and your plans to return. They should encourage your child to return where they are able and it is safe. Your child can only lawfully be deleted from their schools admission register on the grounds prescribed in regulation 8 of the Education Regulations 2006 as amended.
Where able, schools should provide remote education for pupils facing challenges to return from abroad due to COVID-19 travel restrictions, for the period they are abroad.
You will need to respond to the latest rules on international travel, even if you have already left the UK, while also minimising the impact on your childs education. You can to be notified when government travel guidance is updated.

Mistake : Doing Whatever It Takes To Maximize Test Scores
When it comes to college admissions, of course SAT and ACT scores matter. But Shemmassian explains that focusing or over-focusing on standardized tests takes away time from what truly matters, which is building that unique extracurricular profile to stand out.
When students spend years enrolled in test-prep courses and devote hours studying for, taking, and retaking these tests for the sake of a few more points, they are using up time that would be better spent deepening their experiences within some area of interest. And even if a student does attain those perfect scores, without anything else to differentiate him, he simply wont stand out.
Its important to remember that its not all 1600 scores who are going to Ivy League schools.
Instead, students should take a more reasonable approach that values a good test score, but not at the expense of other activities: Pick a period of time to really focus on test prepShemmassian recommends about a semesterduring which time a student should study intensely, take the ACT or SAT a few times and shoot for a score between the 25th and 75th percentiles of admitted applicants at their schools of choice.
Once these first two mistakes are out of the wayonce a student is no longer spending every hour of their free time studying for tests or maximizing their course loadhow that student spends the remaining time is what will make the biggest difference to college admissions officers.
‘what Are Their Credentials As Educators’
Some former employees, in some cases still in their undergraduate careers, told USA TODAY they had questions about the company’s academic training and other issues when they joined Crimson. Beaton told WBUR in 2018 he initially found 200 of the sharpest students at Harvard for the company.
A former Crimson academic adviser, Zifan Yang, said in an interview that his training meant simply reading a company manual. Yang now works for another college consulting company, InGenius Prep.
Others said Beaton recruited them while they were at Harvard following a simple round of interviews. For many of them, Crimson was their first tutoring gig.
Beaton and Kushor, though, deny the idea their tutors might be underprepared to offer the kind of advising that would cost $10,000 per student. They say their tutors are rigorously screened and receive ongoing training.
Crimson provides a platform for people who arent in the teaching arena, Beaton said, but have a sincere passion for that field and can give their knowledge, insight, and skills to that.
Multiple college consultants told USA TODAY merely going to an elite school didnt necessarily qualify them to advise others.
Dominique Padurano is a Harvard College graduate who in 2014 founded a New York City-based college admission consulting business called Crimson Coaching. She says she earned a masters degree in education and spent a decade in classrooms before launching her company.

Ten-year-old Katrinnah Harding hopes to enter college next year. Her brother Heath started at age 11. He’s finishing his master’s in computer science — at 17.
“If they’re going to be working at my kitchen table, Mona Lisa says with a smile, why not earn college credit for what they’re doing?”
“The expectation is that you’re going to have a fun day, Kip says, watching his children play. “Not that you’re going to come home with A’s.”

Can A 16 Year Old Be A Senior
Students are often 1718 years old. Twelfth graders are referred to as Seniors. Many students consider the twelfth grade also known as the senior year of high school a year to relax and prepare for the transition out of their old lives into college/university or the workplace.
Open University Automatic Entry Student
While most Canadian universities expect applicants to possess a high school diploma, others have open admission policies: the door is open to any student wishing to enroll. Neither diplomas nor age are a factor. Mature students are welcome to apply, but also younger students than the normal age for high school graduation.
