Is Ashworth College Accredited In Texas

Don't Miss

Is Ashworth College Accepted By Employers

Why Get A GED When You Can Get An Accredited High School Diploma Online At Ashworth College?

As we mentioned, the program is accredited by a number of recognized bodies. These include the Council for Higher Education Accreditation and the Distance Education Accrediting Commission. Whether an employer chooses to accept these accreditations is at their discretion. Most major pharmacies do, but in some states, hospitals may not.

The most important thing however is that a candidate is certified. If they choose to would be pharmacy techs can study alone and still take the PTCE. This is often the route taken by those working in some capacity in a pharmacy already, as a cashier perhaps.

What Is Programmatic Accreditation

There is a third type of accreditation that prospective students should look for when evaluating institutions: programmatic accreditationsometimes called specialized accreditation or professional accreditation.

While national and regional accrediting agencies review higher educational institutions as a whole, programmatic accrediting agencies examine individual academic units, programs or disciplinary offerings to ensure they are providing students with a quality education in a particular area of study. Programmatic accreditation is often at the national level since these agencies cover a particular specialty and evaluate all programs nationally within that specialty, such as schools of business, or nursing programs. This type of national programmatic accreditation differs from the national institutional accreditation covered above.

Drexel University is regionally accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education . Many programs available at Drexel also hold national programmatic accreditation, including:

Can I Enroll In College Without A Ged

In California, community colleges accept students without a high school degree. Students must be at least 18-years-old. Most community colleges use the Ability to Benefit status to enroll students without a high school diploma or GED. This requires students to take a test to show that theyre ready for college.

How Are Colleges Accredited

Educational institutions are either regionally or nationally accredited. Accreditation is a voluntary process that ensures a college, university, or degree program meets a universal standard for quality. This gives an institution and its graduates credibility with other institutions and employers. Institutional accreditation is different from programmatic accreditation which is covered below.

Contrary to popular belief, the U.S. Department of Education does not accredit educational institutions and/or programs. However, the USDOE and the non-profit Council for Higher Education Accreditation oversee the accreditation process. They review the federally-recognized agencies that set accreditation standards.

Whether or not an institution offers degree programs online, on campus, or both, is irrelevant when it comes to accreditation. They answer to the same governing organizations that ensure students receive a quality education.

I attended Ashworth before I read reviews and clearly that was a mistake. I attended Ashworth for two weeks before I realized they were a scam. They don’t actually have books, they have “Ashworth” college books that they send you. I wish I could post a picture because this book looks like the little workbooks I used to make for my cousins when we played pretend school. I was never able to get ahold of anyone, my teacher, customer service, no one. When I finally got into contact with Ashworth, I asked them to cancel my classes, cancel my payments, everything. I did not want to attend that school. They said they would and I kept getting bills. I called and called, never got an answer. Finally, I check credit karma and they sent me to collections, claiming I owe them $600 for classes. WHAT?!!! Now my credit score has dropped and I was working very hard to get that where I need it to be and Ashworth scammed the hell out me. I know I am not the only one, I’ve seen that I am not the only one. Do not do it to yourself.

Most people who study online generally are folks who need to go to work too. With that said Ashworth is a good deal price wise and being able to study at my own pace worked well for me. Having to deal with the school can be a little stressful sometimes but dealing with anything like that via phone and email can be a little daunting to get your away. Regardless I graduated from the forensic science program and enjoyed it. The classes were a bit challenging but I guess that’s college.

I enrolled in the Medical Transcription program because I need to work from home. I had looked at jobs online to make sure there was a market for them. I had also talked to someone before enrolling to make sure that the program would help me with it. I finished the course in 2.5 months with a 4.0 GPA . I have found out that no company will hire a recent grad to work from home that went to Ashworth. I would have to attend CareerStep or two other ones to do so. The rest of the companies want you to have atleast 1-5 yrs of office or hospital setting experience. I would not recommend the Medical Transcription program at Ashworth to anyone looking to work at home. When I brought this up in an email all I was told was sorry we can’t help you and you should have done your research. I did do my research! I feel that it was a waste of my time and will never do it again.

Don’t Miss: Ashworth Vs Penn Foster

University Of New Castle

This is not an accredited institution on any level.

In 2009, the University of Newcastle was tied to a series of bogus, scamming online colleges that were operating out of a pub in Manchester England by a Pakistan ring.

In October 2010, this online college was falsely claiming regional accreditation in the US on their website. There were also deceitful claims of national accreditation by the Distance Education Accrediting Commission .

The University of Newcastle has claimed online school operations in Ireland, UK, South Pacific, Chicago, and Washington DC over the last few years, despite any accreditation by any agency recognized by the US Department of Education.

Do not mistake this scam school for the outstanding Newcastle University located in Newcastle upon Tyne, England.

Oregon State Warning: The State of Oregon listed this online college as a non-accredited degree supplier.

Texas State Warning: The State of Texas classified this online college as an illegal supplier of educational credentials.

Is Ashworth College The Same As Penn Foster

Ashworth and Penn Foster Colleges permit students to transfer their high school credit over, they are both nationally accredited, and they both offer online courses which allow students to learn from home.

Hence, you might be forced to admit that both schools are the same considering some of their features and attributes. However, it is still out of proportion to say or assume they are the same despite the few similarities.

Penn Foster academic calendar seems a bit easier than Ashworths, although it depends on individuals field of study.

In the same vein, its easier to transfer your high school credits in Penn Foster College than in Ashworth.

There is a slight difference between both schools in terms of the tuition fee and payment method. Pen Fosters fee appears to be a little cheaper than its counterpart.

What Is The Difference Between National And Regional Institutional Accreditation

There are a few other ways that regionally accredited and nationally accredited institutions differ:

    Regionally-Accredited Institution

    Nationally-Accredited Institution

Considered the most prestigious and widely-recognized type of accreditation, regionally-accredited schools are reviewed by their designated regional agency.

Nationally-accredited agencies review institutions of a similar type, such as career, vocational, and technical schools.

May be more expensive than nationally-accredited schools.

May be less expensive than regionally-accredited schools.

More selective during the admissions process.

    Has more relaxed admission standards.

    Mostly academic, non-profit institutions .

Predominantly for-profit institutions . They may also have shareholders they must answer to.

Typically, regionally-accredited schools do not accept credits from nationally-accredited schools.Credits are easily transferred to other regionally-accredited schools.

Typically, nationally-accredited schools will accept credits from both regionally- and nationally-accredited schools.Credits are not transferable to a regionally-accredited college.

Eligible for all corporate tuition reimbursement plans.

Employers do accept nationally accredited degrees, but graduates are not always eligible for corporate tuition reimbursement plans.

    Transferring Between Regionally And Nationally

    Hawkings Receives Ethel Ashworth

Over 27.2% of studentsroughly 1 in 4transfer to institutions outside of the state where they began their college journey. Some transfer while theyre still an undergraduate. Others decide to pursue a masters or doctoral degree at a different institution from where they earned their associates or bachelors degree.

If youre currently attending a regionally-accredited institution and planning to transfer, credits are easily transferred to other regionally-accredited institutions, even if your new institution is accredited by a different accrediting body than the one where you are currently enrolled. However, credits are often reviewed on a course-by-course basis or by a specific academic department to determine which credits will transfer.

How Do Ashworth College Pharmacy Techs Get Practical Experience

Students who take a Pharmacy Tech course at a physical campus usually have access to a lab where they can complete the required 160 hours of practical experience required for certification. Online students do not have this, and while some things can be completed at home with the special kit provided students also need to complete an externship.

Like Penn Foster, Ashworth College partners with the nation’s largest pharmacy chains, CVS and Walgreen’s, to place students for their externships.

The internship is 120 hours at a Walgreens or CVS and then 40 more at an independent, hospital, or mailing pharmacy. Students will need to find a second location themselves which can be difficult.

One of the challenges about this program we found is that some students have had long delays in being placed in an externship.
