Since we have tons of advice out there on choosing a college, I won’t belabor this point. But when you are choosing schools, you should keep the following principles related to choosing a college major in mind:
The less sure you are of your interests, the more flexibility you want at your school. If you have no idea what to major in, it’s not a great idea to go somewhere where you have to declare what you are studying going in. You’re better served going to a school where you can explore for at least two semesters before you have to declare.

If you go to a school that is highly ranked for one program and poorly ranked for everything else, think about what you might do if you want to transfer out of that highly ranked program. In order to avoid being charged interest on your current subsidized loans, we recommend you enroll at CCD as a “non-degree seeking” student. F-1 students must report a change of physical and mailing address to the DSO within 10 days of the change, so that SEVIS can be updated. If changing name, a student must submit passport pages copies to validate any change to biographical information fields of the SEVIS record. All changes in name, address, major and emergency contact must be reported to ISS during your study at Columbus State.
