Rush swears by a solid scheduling plan. My schedule was so full I needed to carefully manage my time. We have two calendars in my house physical calendars where we write everyone’s schedule on and I have a paper planner, as well as my Outlook calendar for work. I would recommend writing your schedule down in more than one place. Also, think about how your day will be structured and make sure you can juggle what you need to fit in.

Forty years ago, going to college in America was a reliable pathway for upward mobility. Today, it has become yet another 21st-century symbol of privilege for the wealthy. Through this period, tuition rates soared 260 percent, double the rate of inflation. In 2019, the average cost of attending a four-year private college was over $200,000. For a four-year public college, it was over $100,000. To sustain these prices, more students are now admitted from the top 1 percent of the income scale than the entire bottom 40 percent at the top 80 colleges. Universities have also opened the floodgates to wealthy international students, willing to pay full tuition for the American brand.
Up until now, online education has been relegated to the equivalent of a hobby at most universities. With the pandemic, it has become a backup plan. But if universities embrace this moment strategically, online education could expand access exponentially and drop its cost by magnitudes all while shoring up revenues for universities in a way that is more recession-proof, policy-proof and pandemic-proof.
Do Employers Require College Degrees
According to a 2017 Harvard Business School study, between 2007 and 2010, job postings listing a bachelors degree requirement as a condition of employment rose by 10%.
The same study also found that in nine out of 10 job postings that requested a bachelors degree, the postings did not contain different duties or added responsibilities than postings with the same title that didnt require a bachelors degree.
Why require a degree when the jobs duties and responsibilities are the same no matter how much education an employee has?
The study found that employers believe that applicants with a college degree are more job-ready than those without a degree. Specifically, employers feel that candidates with degrees possess more hard and soft skills than non-degreed candidates. While the range of hard skills varied by field, the desired soft skills were generally the same across the board .
However, at the same time, employers also admit that possessing a college degree does not guarantee that a candidate will be any better at the job than someone without a degree. For example, employers feel that productivity levels are no different between degreed and non-degreed employees and that retention rates remain the same between workers with and without degrees.
