Fun Things To Do After Graduation For Yourself

WHAT TO DO AFTER COLLEGE

Doing something after you graduate doesnt necessarily have to be to specifically to advance your career, and its important to remember that. Traveling the world is one of the best and most fun things to do after graduation. Although traveling often comes with the connotation thats its a huge expense, it really doesnt have to be.

Traveling can actually be something thats suitable for all budgets, and can be a great chance to make money if you decide to work while abroad or backpack and travel carefully. There are endless options of temporary jobs you can take on, such as working at a hotel or restaurant, which even offers a good chance at a free place to sleep or some free food.

Teaching English is another great way to make money while traveling, or perhaps as a travel guide if youre adventurous and know your way around. Even working as a nanny or babysitter with a family is a wonderful way to travel without breaking the bank. Traveling is the ideal opportunity to learn about different cultures, and see places youve never seen before. Once you start a full-time job, its a lot harder to take time off work to travel.

Take A Continuing Education Class

Whether you are interested in pursuing a field other than what you majored in or want to develop career-specific skills further, consider taking continuing-education classes at a community college or an adult-learning center in your area.

For example, if you were a biology major but want to pursue a different field, like computer programming or graphic design, taking classes gives you a foundation to begin looking for entry-level jobs in that field.

Moreover, these classes are relatively inexpensive, compared to credited courses at four-year colleges, but they still offer valuable, real-life skills.

Ask Your Issuer For A Different Card

If your student card doesnt offer appealing rewards or youre interested in a particular card from the same issuer, ask the company to convert your student card to another one of its products.

Some issuers may even offer to upgrade your card without waiting for you to ask. For example, if your student card doesnt offer a rewards program, your card issuer may be willing to convert it to a cash-back credit card or a travel rewards card.;

The advantage to this approach is that youll still be able to benefit from your student cards credit historywithout getting stuck with its drawbacks. On your credit report, the account will likely date back to when you first opened your student card, not when you received your new card. But youll enjoy a brand-new set of perks.;

What To Do After Graduating College

What to do After You Graduate College

Gary Vaynerchuk once told a 20-year-old about what to do after graduating college. Heres what he said:

Its not going to happen in the next 6 years and you gotta accept it. I gave up my entire 20s, all of em. Imagine not doing anything fun or going anywhere for the next eight years, including Saturday and Sunday. Thats what I did from 22 to 30 . Every day I spent hours a day in a liquor store, thought about a liquor store, built a liquor store, sold wine. Like spent every day. Like this last weekend, dont lie to me Taylor, what did you do this last weekend? What did you do fuckin Saturday and Sunday? Tell me the truth, dont bullshit me.

No bullshit Gary. I just turned 27. Last Saturday and Sunday, I was surfing in Bali and drinking Old Fashioneds and coconuts.

I absolutely love Gary Vs advice in general to work hard, but I couldnt disagree more with his advice on what to do after graduating college.

Im four years out from graduating college and have had the most fun Ive ever had traveling the world and pursuing any passion that came my way, all while building a seven-figure business. I spent my weekends partying, exploring, attending festivals and diving to the depths of the oceans. And Im not bullshitting you.

You might be thinking that I had some special advantage or a family business to catapult off of, but the truth is that well that just isnt the case.

Over the years Ive learned a lot through trial and error.

Why Its Important To Take Some Time Off

Why is it important to do such a thing for yourself, to take some time off when you could be making money right away? After all, thats the main reason why you studied, worked so hard, and got a degree in the first place, right? Well, as it turns out, taking this time off could help you in the long run, and could help you be even more successful. Its important to keep this in mind as you make your future plans after completion of graduation.

It can be hard to think about the big picture, especially with all this excitement and emotion that comes with graduating, but by doing something before you jump into a real job, you can enter it with even more life experience. By taking this time off, you will have the chance to learn more about yourself than you ever could before, and it will give you a better idea of what you want in a job. Perhaps you will find that you have a new passion that you never were aware of before.

In many cases, having a degree isnt quite enough, unfortunately. Companies want to see that you have real life experience to show for yourself too. Having this extra experience will also help you stand out more in a highly competitive market, and will show that you are a well-rounded person, who has invested in making themselves as ready as possible to enter the workforce.

Things To Do After You Graduate From College Find A Place To Live:

Sometimes it feels depressing to go back to the house after graduation because, in the house, it looks as though you are now a liability to your parents if you dont have a skill that gives you money.

So most times, its good to equip yourself and make yourself valuable before going back to the house so that you can be appreciated.

You need to show your parents maturity within you, you shouldnt be asking them for money anyhow.

This is one of the tips I learnt after college graduation from my mentor.

Experience Is Often More Critical Than A Degree

Start A Small Business

Youre probably thinking, what kind of small business can you start? You can bake sweet things and sell them in your neighborhood or at the flea market near you for instance. Or you could make DIY craft items for homes and sell them. If you are good with hair products or mixing things up, you can make a business out of it. Start small and who knows where it could lead.

I’m Talking To The Career Counselors At School About My Options

Lots of people like to give advice to current or recent college graduates, which can be great. However, not all of the advice you receive can be helpful or constructive. Letting people know that you’re talking with administrators who are professionally trained to offer career advice can be a gentle way to let them know that you’re already receiving advice from others — and, consequently, don’t necessarily need any more at this moment.

Get To Know Yourself Learn About Your Strengths And Weaknesses

Consider this as an opportunity to build a personal brand. How do you do it, though, if you dont know what youre good at? By figuring out your strengths, weaknesses, and how to turn them into opportunities.

We all want to explore things we feel we are best suited to, right? The truth is, most of us do not necessarily consider the fact that our present standards may as well be misconstrued. Simply put, just because you were interested in a boy band while in high school doesnt necessarily mean that a career in singing suits you! Understand the difference between your hobbies and something that youll want to pursue as a career, by evaluating your general growth.

Therefore, taking the time after college to reassess your interests, passion, weaknesses, and strengths, and being brutally honest with yourself, can help you understand yourself better. Also, noting your interests, passion, and strengths enables you to establish a guideline of the opportunities that suit you.

Get A Grasp Of Your Student Loans

What to Do After You Graduate Law School

Now that youve created a budget for yourself, youll be better equipped to pay any student debt in a timely manner. Making a plan for repayment should be one of your first priorities after graduation. You can access information about any federal loans you may have National Student Loan Data System. Its important to note that the database does not include any private loans, so it is your responsibility to keep track of those as well. Other helpful resources include the Federal Student Aid and Federal Student Loans websites, which feature repayment calculators and other useful information.

Start Saving For Retirement

If you havent been told to start saving for retirement, Im telling you now. Start saving for retirement. It is never to early to start and you can never be too younger to start planning for retirement. Get yourself an IRA or Roth IRA or other type of retirement savings account. If your job offers a 401K, take the full amount offered. And if your employer will match any percent of your income, oh my god do it. The earlier you start saving, the better.

As time goes on, interest accumulates on these accounts. If youre continuously dumping money into a retirement savings account, itll keep growing. If you start saving when youre young, you wont have to struggle to save up enough later on. Trust me, your future self will thank you.

Now tell me what you think. What did you wish someone had told you about life after college? Whats one piece of advice youd like to give recent grads?

Things Nobody Tells You About Life After College

Where should you move after graduation? Take the quiz to find out!

College is a joyous time in people’s lives, when drinking on weekdays is encouraged and the future seems brighter than that Orbit girl’s teeth. But if college is like the shining midday sun, life after college is kind of like the clouds that roll in during the afternoon, making everything overcast and gloomy.

OK, maybe that’s a little dramatic, but post-grad life certainly is a bit less carefree. Not sure what to expect after graduating? Here are 10 things nobody tells you about life after college :

1. Job Hunting is a Necessary but Terrible Evil

If you’ve ever been one of dozens of people vying for the last shirt on the sale rack, you have some inkling of what job hunting after college feels like: an every-man-for-himself fight to the death. And it does not feel good.

Somehow you’re supposed to stand out from the hundreds of other applicants who have your exact same degree and level of experience, and all you can think of to say in your cover letter is “I’m a good problem solver.”

2. You May Not Find the Job You’re Looking For

Not only is job hunting a seemingly hopeless and never-ending endeavor, but despite sending what feels like hundreds of resumes and cover letters, you still likely won’t end up in your dream job.

Instead, you’ll probably find yourself somewhere that’s “fine” or “OK for now.” If it makes you feel better, people rarely love their first jobs– you aren’t alone.

Explore Your Interests And Find Some New Hobbies

THINGS TO DO AFTER YOU GRADUATE / COLLEGE ! South African youtuber

If youre like me, you used to love reading, but in college you stopped reading for fun. Sell those boring old textbooks. Hell, burn em if you hated your classes that much . Get back into reading for yourself and not some stupid exam or boring project. Academic reading is dry and dull at best and impossible to understand at worst. Get back to the fun stuff.

School has a way of consuming your time, and now that youre out for good, or at least for now, get back into your old hobbies. Now is a great time to get back to what you liked doing for you, or you can explore new hobbies. Swing by your local craft store and buy some paint if youve always wanted to give painting a shot. You have the time now that you dont have to worry about school work.

Do you have a super long watch list of movies and shows you wanted to watch but never had the time? Watch away! Did you want to join a yoga studio but never had the time or money, yoga it up after work. Being a young adult is as exciting and fun as you make it. Go to live events and shows. Get out and explore your city. The world is your oyster.

Do Not Be Afraid To Fail

Failure is not always a negative thing. Failure sparks new opportunities the opportunity to learn and start over. New things are encountered after graduation, and because it is unknown territory, failure is bound to occur. But it is important that if you fail, you get back up. There is no need to fear failure. some of the most successful people in the world today first failed, but the difference that they made did not come because they were afraid to fail. Instead, they were open to the opportunities that came with failure.

Narrow Down The List Of What Youre Good At

How do you do this? Just ask yourself the question, if I spent a year or so really developing this skill set, are there still going to be a lot of people simply better than I am because they started earlier or have a stronger background?

For example, early on I knew I was good at computers. I played a lot of computer games and I was technically literate. I thought about learning how to be a developer.

Then I realized even if I spent a year or two, every single day learning how to be a great developer, the end result would still be that there are tens of thousands of people in India who are just going to be better than I am because they have 10 years of experience on me. And due to cost of living, theyre willing to get paid a fraction of what I would like to. Im fighting an uphill battle that Im not going to win.

Then I realized, what if I pivot those skills? I started researching and found out about SEO by talking to a friends dad. He explained the basics, and told me that I didnt have to be a developer to do that. I just needed to have a basic understanding of how websites work. That was the beginnings of my journey in building a seven-figure business.

However, you should take this advice with a grain of salt. Some skill sets dont take as long to master. For example, if youre already a great artist, it probably wouldnt take much to be able to transfer those skill sets into being a pretty good graphic designer.
