CFDM – College of Fashion Design and Merchandising

Federal financial aid programs can help students fund tuition for fashion degree programs. However, there are many different scholarships students can pursue that can offset tuition fees. These include the YMA Fashion Scholarship Fund, which presents approximately 200 annual scholarships of $5,000, as well as four merit scholarships of $30,000 to $35,000. The scholarships are offered at 60 partner schools, including several of the colleges in our top 10.

The Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising offers several scholarships to fashion students, and it also partners with notable brands to offer a wider range of scholarships. Other scholarship opportunities are typically available from major retailers as well.

To be included in these rankings, all schools must meet the following initial criteria for the specific subject being ranked.

  • Offer an undergraduate degree in that subject.
  • Have awarded at least one degree or certificate in that subject in the most recent year of IPEDS data available.
  • Based on those criteria, we ranked all 2-year and 4-year schools in IPEDS that reported data for all of the following points. Ratings are calculated on a 10-point scale, using the weights specified.

We are proud to produce our annual ranking of the USs top fashion design schools, based on factors like the schools admission data, graduation success, reputation and an extensive proprietary survey conducted with school & industry stakeholders. Below is our overall Top 50 National rankings of Fashion Design programs.

  • Short-term studies to Europe and Asia, and full semester abroad studies in London, Paris, Florence & Hong Kong round out the students education. Fashion Design majors may also earn their degree in Florence, Italy or choose a Minor in Merchandising or Product Development.

  • Undergraduate Scholarships And Awards

    Current students can compete for Eskenazi School scholarships and awards based on high-achievement in their major courses. The deadline to apply for these awards is in October each year.

    Fashion Design majors often participate in national scholarship competitions and case studies sponsored by organizations such as the YMA Fashion Scholarship Fund and the National Retail Federation Foundation.

    The Netherlands has a small but flourishing fashion culture.     Otis College Of Art And Design Los Angeles Ca

    Otis is an interesting option for fashion-minded students for a few reasons. First, fashion design students have the option to choose a Costume Design emphasis track within their majora unique program of study that I haven’t seen at any of these other schools.

    Students have the opportunity to work in teams through junior and senior year to create unique designs, which is a great experience for when you transition to working in the actual industry. The school is also committed to sustainability in fashionstudents can opt for a minor in sustainability if it’s something they’re particularly interested in.

    Current designers serve as mentors for fashion students, and recent upperclassmen mentor companies include places like Anthropologie, Nike, BCBG, Roxy, and more.
