About Hlc And Accreditation

The Higher Learning Commission is an institutional accreditation agency that accredits degree-granting colleges and universities that are based in the United States.

Institutional accreditation validates the quality of an institution as a whole and evaluates multiple aspects of an institution, including its academic offerings, governance and administration, mission, finances, and resources. HLCs accreditation includes all degree levels as well as onsite and online course delivery. Institutions of higher education in the United States may also seek accreditation through specialized or programmatic accreditation agencies, which accredit programs, departments or schools within a college or university.

Institutions that HLC accredits are evaluated against its Criteria for Accreditation, a set of standards that institutions must meet to receive and/or maintain accredited status. HLCs Criteria for Accreditation reflect a set of Guiding Values.

The accreditation process is based on a system of peer review. Approximately 2,000 educators from institutions of higher education serve as HLC peer reviewers conducting accreditation evaluations for other institutions. They make recommendations to HLCs decision-making bodies, which take final action on institutional evaluations and are made up of both peer reviewers and public members.

Sports: Herm Edwards Not Helping His Case With Recent Losses

Austin Nivison wrote before ASU’s win over USC: “The allegations of NCAA violations might be enough to turn up the heat on Edwards seat, but the product on the field these days is not helping much, either. The Sun Devils started out the 2021 season with a 5-1 record and were poised to reach the Pac-12 Championship Game. Now, after two straight losses, Edwards and Arizona State might wind up on the outside looking in at the end of the regular season.”

San Jose Mercury News: 75% Chance Asu Football Has Vacancy At Head Coaching Position

Arizona_State_University

Pac-12 Insider Jon Wilner took a look at the coaching carousel in the Pac-12 Conference and he had Arizona State fourth on his list ranked “from the perspective of maximum tumult,” calling Edwards’ seat “hot.”

Wilner wrote: Edwards future at the helm is in doubt because of an NCAA investigation into recruiting violations during the pandemic. The school already has placed three assistants on paid leave and pulled its chief recruiter off the road. You dont take those steps if the allegations are unfounded. The Hotline believes a change in Tempe is likely: Either the 67-year-old Edwards will be forced to resign because of the recruiting violations, or hell decide enough is enough and retire after four years, one pandemic and several unseemly allegations against his program. The prospect of departing before the NCAA rules on the case could be appealing. If Edwards is long gone when the hammer falls, the damage to his personal reputation not to mention the sanctions against the school might not be as severe.”

When Arizona State Has The Ball

More so than its defense, Arizona State’s offense has been quizzical in 2021. The Sun Devils looked like world-beaters offensively at UCLA and in the second halves of wins over USC and Washington. The multifaceted rushing attack is dangerous and should eat up yardage against an Arizona defense surrendering 4.42 yards per carry.

Arizona State’s rotation of Rachaad White, DeaMonte Trayanum, and Daniyel Ngata at running back, with dual-threat quarterback Jayden Daniels contributing liberally to the ground game, can cause defenses fits. In each of the Sun Devils’ last three losses, however, opponents loaded up on the run and held Arizona State to fewer than 150 yards.

How Arizona chooses to approach Arizona State’s multi-pronged run game in Don Brown’s last game as defensive coordinator before starting as head coach at UMass will be interesting. Brown’s known for his commitment to the pass rush, but Daniels’ evasiveness can leave blitzing defenders out of position.

Arizona ranks near the bottom of FBS in passing plays surrendered of more than 40 yards. Misses on the blitz could open up speedster receiver Ricky Pearsall for deep passing plays. He was a game-changer to that end in Arizona State’s win at UCLA.

Projecting Week 13 College Football Playoff Rankings

Student life on ASU’s Tempe campus | Arizona State University

Last week, the College Football Playoff Selection Committee had it quite easy.

Only five ranked teams fell in defeat, with the highest being undefeated Oklahoma losing to Baylor and dropping out of the top 10. The CFP’s top seven teams remained unchanged with just two weeks left to play.

This week, things are different.

Change will be seen in the newly released College Football Playoff rankings, set to be unveiled at 5 pm Arizona time Tuesday.

This is thanks to the No. 3 Oregon Ducks falling on the road to Utah, leaving a slot in the top four for another team to, at least for now, have their aspirations realized.

Attention will also be paid to teams outside of the temporary playoff teams, as four total schools are set to drop following their losses over the weekend, with Michigan State and Wake Forest leaving the door open for teams to make moves into the top 10.

No 6 Baylor Beats Arizona State 75

PARADISE ISLAND, Bahamas Baylors balance is giving coach Scott Drew plenty of options to start the season.

The sixth-ranked Bears had five players score in double figures in their 75-63 win over Arizona State on Wednesday night that wrapped up first-round play at the Battle 4 Atlantis. L.J. Cryer led that group with 15 points, marking the fifth time in as many games that the Bears have had at least four double-figure scorers.

Its definitely beautiful, said Adam Flagler, who had 13 points. Were always just trying to play for each other, trying to get the best shot always down the floor, and go 1-0.

So far, that plan has worked for a team charged with replacing four starters from last years national championship squad. That group was led primarily by three lead scorers in Jared Butler , MaCio Teague and Davion Mitchell .

Coming in, Cryer was averaging a team-high 18.5 points while four other players were averaging at least 10.3 points. The Bears nearly had a sixth double-figure scorer in James Akinjo, who finished with nine points and seven assists.

That lead grew to 22 points, and the Sun Devils never got within single digits again.
