Exercise Science Masters Programs
Masters programs in kinesiology encourage students to practically apply their exercise science abilities. This could mean conducting stress tests, performing motion captures, or creating mock fitness plans. Whereas a bachelors program may have provided necessary academic groundwork, a masters program is where that knowledge turns into action.

The University of San Francisco was established in 1855 as the City of San Franciscos first institution of higher education under the guidance of Father Anthony Maraschi, S.J., founder and first president. The Jesuit traditions of scholarship and dedication to a liberal education are the foundation for all academic programs at USF. Undergraduate and graduate programs are offered across one college and four schools College of Arts and Sciences, School of Education, School of Law, School of Management, and School of Nursing and Health Professions. Current enrollment for the university is 10,130 6,392 undergraduate and 3,738 graduate students. The Universitys humanistic tradition views the individual mind and spirit as its most valuable resources. The academic philosophy at USF emphasizes enrichment of personal values, expansion of personal responsibility, and lifelong learning.
The Department of Physical Education was created in 1973, housed in the College of Arts and Sciences, and located in Memorial Gymnasium. In 2006 the department was relocated to Harney Science Center. In April of 2012, the department name changed to Kinesiology in an effort to reflect more appropriately what we do and in keeping with the changes in the field at the national level.

Doctorate Admissions Graduation And Beyond
Doctoral kinesiology programs are often known for have rigorous admissions processes. As part of your application, you may be requested to submit the following.
- Masters degree in related field

Also, students may be asked to take part in an in-person interview with department faculty. Doctoral admissions are this intensive to help ensure programs align with student goals.
PhD program length varies depending on how long it takes you to write your dissertation. Kinesiology schools usually dedicate 36 to 60 credit hours to core curriculum. Then, students could schedule up to 30 additional credit hours to research, write, and present their dissertation.

Physical therapy is the medical practice that utilizes therapeutic exercise, physical modalities such as massage and electrotherapy, assistive devices, and patient education and training for the preservation, enhancement, or restoration of movement and physical function impaired or threatened by disability, injury, or disease. The following is a brief guide to the courses students will need to take at UCSB to meet the prerequisite course requirements for most Physical Therapy programs.
